JetsJetsJets,

Which NJ dealers are you looking at? I'm in Old Bridge and have been researching places to buy the RDX sometime in 2013. I bought my RSX at Springfield Acura back in 2005. Was always happy with them UNTIL I brought it in for service 2 months ago and they said I NEEDED to replace my timing belt! They scared me to think I was screwed. But being the work was almost $1000 I decided to research. Turns out, my car doesn't even have a timing belt! Has a timing chain, and its in good condition.

What am I saying? Don't go to Springfield Acura. They used to be great, but lately they have gotten a bit shady. I've heard good things about Ramsey Acura and Bridgewater Acura.

PS - GO GIANTS!!!

Consider Acura of Denville. When I was looking into the RDX back in May I filled out the online quote form for Springfield Acura then Acura Of Denville. Bridgewater Acura was my next choice but I did not even get a chance since Acura of Denville responded so fast with a quote that I felt was very reasonable and they came back just as fast with all my questions. I had to go there to get a trade-in price. They did not even take my keys (doors were locked) just went out and looked at it took my word on the mileage. They offered me top dollar for it. I had planned to start with those three dealerships then expand the search but I would have been an a$$ to pass up the offer they made me. They don't play any games and were very responsive to my needs.

Springfield Acura never gave me the online quote there website promises. I got an email saying "We have the car you want in stock. What time can you come in today for a test drive?" When I emailed them back and asked for the quote they did not yet give me they went silent and I never heard back from them again.

I contacted 5 NJ dealers through their web sites for quotes. Here is my experience for a 2013 AWD/Tech:

Park Ave was quick to respond via email with an offer of $36,950 but their accessories price was the highest by far.

Precision Acura/Princeton also responded quickly via email with a quote of $37,660. Accessories quote was high but $400 under Park Ave.

Bridgewater - called me numerous times and sent me many emails but no quote on the car, they did manage to quote me accessories though and they were as high as Park Ave. The woman I was dealing with via email admitted to me that she was new and did not know that accessories could be discounted as well.

Springfield - they did not provide me with a quote either via email.

Ramsey - very responsive - David S provided a quote of $36,999 - there is a doc fee of $199 - so $37,200 basically. The accessories price was also fair, lower than the other dealers by $200-600. I was planning to go there and have my trade appraised but wanted to give a dealer closer to home a chance and they did not let me out the door with out a car.

I think that you have a few good options in NJ, go with whom you feel most comfortable dealing with. Let me know if you have any more questions. Good Luck and happy hunting. I know my wife is glad that I am done with all of this.

BTW, can the Jets borrow a receiver from the Giants?

In the dealer near me in the DC Area, I was quoted:

2013 Acura RDX AWD Tech Package:
$37,615
+ Tags/License Plates (a $100 to a few hundred I think, can't remember)
+ Taxes at 6%
+ Processing ($200)
+ Freight ($895?)
= total price

Comparing to to JetsJetsJets, sees I can push at least a grand off to get to ramsey's price. I wonder if that's possible in MD. If not, I wonder what would happen buying in Jersey, I'm coming up to the area in December. I heard though buying out of state causes problems with double taxing or double freight (destination) or something.
Here is some TrueCar.com info for this model and trim for the DC area:
"Configured Price: $40,315 = $39,420 (base) + $895 (Destination Fees)"
Potential Savings: – $1,171
Target Price: $39,144
Factory Invoice: $38,160 = $36,965 (base) + $300 (Regional Ad Fees) + $895 (Destination Fees)
Average paid: $39,602 = $38,407 (base) + $300 (Regional Ad Fees) + $895 (Destination Fees)

There are no manufacturer incentives or cash rebates currently being offered for the 2013 Acura RDX.

$38999.00 Out the Door for 2013 RDX AWD with Tech

Hello Fellow Members,
I don't know if this is a fair price, cheap, or expensive but I just wanted to put it out here to give someone an idea what what it costs in a certain area of the country to get the starting point when going into the dealership.

I bought one last week for $38999.00 Out the Door Price for 2013 RDX AWD with Tech. I am in Northern Virginia.

I believe the 2013 RDX AWD without the tech package is about what you paid for...maybe without a couple hundred bucks higher where I am at (Virginia/DC area). Mine was $38999.99 but with tech package out the door price.

No, Radley Acura wanted $40,400.00 ODP (all inclusive) whereas Pohanka Acura in Chantilly wanted $38,999.00 ODP (all inclusive) for the same 2013 RDX AWD with Tech.

My current offer from Pohanka Acura in Northern Va:

Out the door price: $35,500.00

Should I take it? Can I find a better deal?

Thanks for your input!

Whoaa! I think that's an awesome price for RDX base AWD.

I'm picking up my RDX base FWD this wednesday. I got $32,982 +TTL for a drive out price of $35,389 and no accessories.

We bought an MDX w/ tech and entertainment package & advance running boards from Pohanka January of this year for $45,650 out the door. But to get that price, it took about 6 days of back and forth. I didn't want to do that this time so instead, I started on line for pricing by emailing Radley in Woodbridge and Alexandria and Rosenthal in Maryland for their eprices. Once I got quotes, I went to Radley in Woodbridge and started negotiating showing them what I could get from the other two dealerships. I got them down to $35,789 OTD but they wouldn't give me floormats. I snuck away for a few minutes, called the salesperson I knew from Pohanka, told him what Radley was offering and asked if he could beat it and throw in the floormats. He called back 10 minutes later with the offer and the rest is history.

This time around, it took about 48 hours of going back and forth over the phone and emails w/ the various dealerships, but it was less painful and each knew they had to lower their prices to win my money.

I'm waiting until end of year to do a cash/no trade deal. Live in CT but willing to travel (RI, NJ, NY) for right price. Looking for base, AWD and adding roof rails (not crossbars) and fog lights. My offer will be $35K even plus tax, tags. Any thoughts on if this will fly as year-end sales quotas come in to play? I'm going to deal with Fleet, Internet or GM only - bypassing regular salesman. I doubt any incentives will show up. I know this is pretty much at invoice (including free install of accessories). A few dealers around here each have 12+ AWD bases on lots so there is local inventory.

Sorry if my post was confusing.

Both from Pohanka Acura in Chantilly, VA

January 2012: 2012 MDX w/ Tech & Entertainment package, Advance Running Boards, All Weather Package & 2 oil changes = $45, 650 OTD

November 2012: 2013 RDX Base AWD, Sport Running Boards, All Weather floor mats + 4 oil changes = $35,500 OTD

I think anything less than $35,800 OTD is a great price for what you're looking for.

How are lease deals? I think my limit for a base AWD is $500-$515/month, including all fees, taxes, etc... I'd be willing to pay 1st month payment upfront (obviously) and $100 for DMV. I'd get a 10k/year lease. My GTI lease isn't up until next October, but I'm a car guy, so it's fun to look at options now.

Is this doable?

I'm going to say it would take a strong program from Acura on a 2013 NEXT Oct to get that low on AWD. The numbers sound more like a base model...I could be wrong. That's about $17,500 to Acura over three years...residual right at half of MSRP on 10K per year...so, just a tad light, IMO. A strong 'sign and drive' campaign 'might' get you those numbers. I'm gonna say it would take another $1500 in the mix somewhere. We'll need to keep the interest rates around 2%, also....but, after we fall off the fiscal cliff, who knows WHAT might happen?

You got it for $450.00 cheaper than what I paid for mine in Virginia Pohanka. Good job. Wish I saw your price first , would have bee a good starting point.

Bummer. It'll be hard to justify spending so much on a car that I'll only be driving 30k miles over 3 years... We'll see how hard my sales guy at VW pushes to keep me in a VW; maybe a SportWagen or a Tiguan.

I would imagine VW will have some 'incentive' for you...waive disposition fee, owner loyalty $, early 'buy out' from your current lease...It could all add up IF they have a vehicle that fits your needs. It's tough to keep tossing away money in order to drive nice, safe, current, roadworthy vehicles...but, it's what many of us do . Back in the days that twenty grand would get you a nice ride, a $300 lease was easy. (Un)fortunately, we're dealing with $40K and up for many of the well-equipped utes that we so enjoy. No free lunch, as they say .

Still looking for the 2013 Acura RDX AWD Tech in Washington, DC / Baltimore area

I posted in here about a month ago with the price I was quoted at the time for the 2013 Acura RDX AWD Tech Package:

2013 Acura RDX AWD Tech Package:
$37,615
+ Tags/License Plates (a $100 to a few hundred I think, can't remember)
+ Taxes at 6%
+ Processing ($200)
+ Freight ($895?)
= total price
Seems the new prices to beat are:

(@pdpgps - does that $36,615 include destination?)

My plan is to visit the Acura Dealer in the next few days with my 2008 Lexus IS 350 and see what they will give in for a trade-in. Last month, Carmax offered $17k and then Lexus of Rockville offered $16,500 but after some talking, it seemed they were willing to go to $18k. If Acura can meet or beat that, and meet or beat the latest prices here, I think it'll be a done deal. I may still say I want to wait just so I can go back on Friday the last day of the month and see if there is anything I can squeeze on - Remote start maybe?

We got approved for a 1.99% APR loan from the credit union for up to $25k so I should be good.

The Lexus RX and the BMW X3 were the other two I was eying.

If I was to do the X3, I'd want to lease it, but right now, I don't think I want to go w/ the X3. Haven't shut that door yet though.

With the RX, I really had wanted the RX F-Sport but the MSRP on that was $52k-ish and they were only willing to drop $725 off that. They said with the a regular RX they could drop a lot more but w/ the car's MSRP at almost $50k, I'm wondering how much they could realistically drop to make it something to consider over the RDX. I know it's a better car, but I don't want to spend $10k more on it.

Anyone else considering the RX? If so, at what price would it be worth it for you over the RDX?

I received an email from RDX ON and his intentions were to help and he doesn't sound like a dealer to me.

I have issued the appropriate apology to him and opened his account.

Per his request I have sent you the pertinent part of his reply and I'm sure you will see his motives were not only helpful but honorable.

I am going to ask for his permission to furnish you his email address and then you two can get together.

Edit add: I sent you his information.

I too was considering the RX. But the RX base price point was at least $4-6k more than the RDX AWD w/tech, and with no options. Fully built out the RX would have been at least $50k. If you're looking for a sportier SUV then the F-sport might be the right choice. It has firmer suspension, but then you might as well get a deal on the first gen RDX with the turbo and the already firm suspension. The 2013 has a softer suspension and definitely more comfortable on bumpy roads then the old first gen and the jarring bumps from that. I had a 2007 RDX and it was not comfortable, but definitely better handling then the 2013.

What I negotiated was $38,400 AWD with tech out the door including all taxes titles and tags, all season mats, AND after my $3000 trade in. Considering the MSRP was $41k and I would've been looking at around $44k after all the fees, I feel like I still came out ahead. I'm very happy.

If you are quoted $16k for your trade in, you can negotiate a higher trade-in value if you try to buy another Lexus as "brand loyalty" leverage. Or just keep making offers and waiting for the counter offers. Or just straight up tell them this is with I want for my trade in with an offer like this:

I want $18000 for my IS350 trade-in and to buy your RDX AWD with tech for $XX,XXX out the door. If we are close on number make me a counter and we'll see how close we are. It's end of the month...quota time!

This is a wonderful post, and its amazing how most of you guys are getting really nice deals on the RDX's.

I am looking into getting an RDX myself, the Base with Tech package. My biggest question is what are some bargaining tactics you guys use to get good deals. I want to mostly deal with dealers via email and phone. There is only one dealer in town and they have a monopoly.. obviously and they don't bargain at all. I will be looking in the Dallas/Fort Worth area, and Houston area.

Thanks for taking the time to reply pdpgp. So a few things...

1) I def want a 2013. I think the V6 engine is nicer and I'm sure quicker and I don't want to go used. Plus the new 2013 lets you use regular gas right? and has better mpg? This will mainly be my wife's car so the firmer suspension was more for me, but I think she herself prefers softer.

2) regarding the "$4-6k more than the RDX AWD w/tech, and with no options. Fully built out the RX would have been at least $50k" comment, I have to get a clearer picture on that. Let me elaborate in point #3...

Ah I didn't know there was also a $3k trade-in in the mix. I think if you pull that out, dcpc08161992 is doing the best w/ his 2013 RDX AWD w/ Tech from Pohanka for $38999.00 OTD. I really need to see his break-down. Maybe I'll DM him to check out this thread and chime in.

With his post, I can figure out what the best case scenario is with the RDX and then compare to the best case scenarios w/ the RX. Looking in Edmunds' RX 350 Prices Paid thread, a magic number being thrown around is 11% off MSRP. The RX I'm looking at is at $49,500k so let's say that 11% works out, that's pretty much $5k off taking the price down to $44,500 for the car I want (before fees). Also not considering the $1k I should be getting for the Lexus Loyalty and also if I get into the "december to remember," any additional discounts.

Anyways, considering the RX makes everything more complicated so I'm hesitant to go down that route.

What I know is this:

Right so here is my plan: I'm going to go to Acura Dealer on Tuesday and say "if you give me $20k for my trade-in, and let me buy this car for $_____ and $____ OTD, I'll buy now. The fill in the blank numbers are what I'm trying to figure out - what's the reach price I should be going for w/ the car purchase which is high enough so I don't lose credibility but low enough that they can't do it, but I'm in the game and can leave with a real clear view of the ceiling they'll give me for my trade-in and the floor price for the new RDX.

Then I have Wednesday and Thursday to:

a) Talk to Lexus one last time and see what's the closest they can get to my current RDX price w/ their fully loaded RX
b) Talk to some other local acura dealers by phone and say this is where I'm at, can this be beat?
c) get some aftermarket stuff out of my IS that I can resell on ebay. No point losing them for no reason in a trade-in

Will keep you guys updated

As you know, the only number that's important is the amount you will pay in addition to your trade-in. I believe it's unnecessarily complicated to deal with "If you give me this, and then sell for this..." when the only real number is the amount of the check you need to write.

I'd simply ask them to value your trade and tell you the amount of money needed in addition to complete the deal. Same for Lexus and Acura. Lexus might try to 'hold back' the loyalty money on the first shot...or not...depending on the dealer. The only relevant number is the difference for which you will write the check...doesn't matter how they get there...your bank account can't tell the difference.

I will say that this close to year-end, December might have some 'spiffs' thrown in(unless you need to work this deal in November).

I doubt you can get any real numbers over the phone when dealing with a trade-in. I'm sure they will all say 'Come in, we can beat your best deal'.

I found the RX ride to be quite a bit more comfortable while the RDX is firmer/sportier. This was FWD vs FWD, so I'm not sure what difference AWD might make. What I DO know is...if your wife doesn't like the firm ride, she's not likely to let you forget it.

AND, I'd remove the 'stuff' you want to keep or make it clear to the appraiser that certain things are not conveying upon trade. You don't want to give them a reason to renege on the trade offer because you removed some items.

Keep it simple...life's too complicated as it is.

Yes, just ask for Omar Omland at Pohanka and let him know your OTD price. I am sure you can go a little lower that $38999.00. I got a little too excited and accept the offer without making a counter offer once I got the 'text' price from Omar (I spent 2 hours in Radley Acura dealership and the best they can do is $40, 400.00 OTD). If I countered offer I am sure I can probably knock off a couple hundred bucks or at least a few free oil changes?

Anyway, I pm'ed you the break down of the car prices, tax, tax, and processing fee (no destination charge - I think it factored into the car price?).

I think having people in Forum giving their purchase price would help the next buy... you know dealer have all the cards why not help out the average joe? I wish I found this website first before I bought the car - I would have a better price point to start my negotiation... Oh, well.

Good luck with your purchase and if YOU can get a lower price PLEASE help out the next buy!
