The amber brownstone was the color that kept coming back to me as we looked at other cars. Forged Silver was our second choice. I think we would have been happy with either color... The RDX is a beautiful car.

It took me a while to decide that I was ready to move on from my trusty and cost effective Prius, but in the end, it was time. I also bounced back and forth to the X3 28i (too much money for better steering).

In the end, I bought a Amber Brownstone AWD with Tech that had been sitting on the dealer lot for a few months.

Vehicle Price: $37,891
Doc Fees: $80.00
Tax: $3436.64
License/Reg/Tire Fees/: $400
Options: Running boards, body moldings, all season mats, trailer hitch: $2,061.

I know I could have gotten some of the options cheaper -- but they were all options I wanted and they were already on the car. Saved me the headache of finding someone to install.
Congrats on the car! your pricing, excluding the accessories, seems to be along the lines of what I paid: https://acurazine.com/forums/showthr...7#post14187467

I'm interested in your options and it's nice you already had them in your car the way you wanted. Regarding the hitch I plan to just go the aftermarket route (nice thread here: https://acurazine.com/forums/2g-rdx-2013-2018-404/oem-trailer-hitch-865965/ ) . But my cousin was saying the Running boards make the car look real nice. I'm interested in the body Moldings but need to see them.

Enjoy the ride. I could not convince myself to go with X3 or Q5. RDX is too well packaged.
I too test drove the X3 and went back again to talk numbers. But I decided against the X3 for a few reasons:

1) I feel BMW is an enthusiasts car and this car is mainly my wife's car who really doesn't enjoy driving enough to justify her having this car.
2) Option for option the RDX seemed a LOT cheaper. However, the X3 when you customize every little feature really was giving you a lot of nice luxury features that you couldn't get with the RDX
3) RDX beat the X3 w/ the backseat size, my main concern. Coming from an IS 350 (which I traded in for this car) and having our other car as a coupe, I wanted a roomy and comfy backseat this time. But def didn't want to get out of the compact size realm. The Lexus RX350 was my worst case scenario car but I really didn't want it to work out (and it didn't! whew!)
4) I'm nervous about owning German cars because I feel over the long run, they are more expensive to maintain (I might be wrong on that). I knew I wanted this car for the long haul - 100k+ miles.

That being said, my IS 350 that I mentioned I traded in was my fun car. I'm looking forward to having a fun car again in the near future and I'll be likely looking German this time, but leasing because owning the car like the IS (even though it was japanese) was a headache after a while.

I went with silver/ebony combo just because it seemed Silver would be the best that stays clean without washing. If I wasn't so lazy and better about doing upkeep, I'd have gone with a better color I prefer.

Hi all. I am considering purchasing the amber brownstone FWD with Tech.
Vehicle Price - $ 35337
Tax - $ 3108
All fees and docs - $ 476
Out the door - $ 38960
I am in Southern California.
From my research, I think this is a pretty good deal. Does anyone have any opinions?

I was going to say "WOW" that is cheap for $35337... then I see the sale tax ...

Out the door price is not bad at all though, it is $30 cheaper than what I paid for mine two months ago around Northern Va/DC area.

Just closed deal on AWD Tech with roof rails (no crossbars) installed for $37,000 plus $399 dealer fee. $37,399 OTD (bought outright/no trade). I was hoping for $37K even and solicted about 10 dealers via email. Didn't find as much deal making during last week of year than I hoped for. Some dismissed deal right off the bat and two came in at the price I agreed upon (1 in CT and 1 in NY). No in-person negotiations and avoided upsells and bait and switches at dealers.

Getting Graphite/Black. Being built on 1/6 and picking up 1/18.

Where are they built? Does Acura offer any cool programs to pick it up, get trained in it, etc., and drive/ship it back?

While I wouldn't mind a driving course in the RDX, somehow the trip to Ohio isn't the same as our planned trip to Sweden to pick up our next Volvol

It would be more helpful (useful) information if you include details in the price of the car... like "Forged Silver Metallic/ Black interior base model FWD $32,997 (Out the Door/or Plus Tax+Tag+Processing+Freight+etc...) with fog lamps, winter mats, splash guards, cargo tray, and wheel locks.

I can tell you my RDX AWD with Tech $36050.00. But that would be a misleading since its out the door price is $38999.00.

Last week I purchased a 2013 RDX AWD w/Tech package. I used this thread to get much of my information when negociating and it was extremely helpful. Wanted to share my final numbers with everyone and extend a "thank you" for all of those who've also shared their information and thoughts.

2013 Acura RDX AWD w/Tech package:

(no trade in - straight purchase)
Base price: $37,410.00
Wood knob (option) $176.00
Wood trim (option)

Just purchased a 2013 RDX AWD w/Tech last week. I used this thread to gain much of my information for negociating and found it immensely helpful. I wanted to share my numbers for everyone and extend a "thank you" to all who've shared their info and thoughts.

2013 Acura RDX AWD w/Tech (Black w/ Parchment int):

Base: $37,410.00
Wood trim (option): $345.00
Wood knob (option): $176.00
All Season Package #1: $444.00
Dealer accessories disc. ($125.00)
Total Base + Options: $38,250.00

This price includes Destination fees. Does not include Doc fees, TTL. I used the advice of a few in this forum and sent an offer of $36,200.00 to 7 different Acura dealers of which 4 dealers responded and began negociations with me. I ended up dealing with Grant Goerring at Woodfield Acura of IL. He was forthcoming with information and provided what turned out to the be the most competitive offer with his first counter. I recommend him to those living in IL or WI (I submitted offers to dealers in both states).

For those of you in the Midwest, a little bonus story....there was an agent named Tim Scrogham at McGrath Acura that was particularly painful for me to work with. I was "assigned" to him when I showed up at McGrath for a test drive. His initial response to my email offer was that "an offer of $1000 under invoice was just not a deal we are interested in taking". When I expressed some disappointment, he said to reply to him when I got my final number because he could usually beat the dealer discount by 5%. In my opinion, that's taking the lazy approach...big turn off for me. However, I ended up giving him a shot at beating the best number I got (what you see above) and I also asked him for a break down of the number for his best offer. If it meant saving a few more hundred dollars for me, it was worth it. He responded with a single number which still ended up being $240 higher, no 5% reduction on the dealer discount and no offer breakdown as I requested. That was enough for me to move on without him. When I ultimately informed him that I was not going to do business with him, he replied with a sarcastic email about how he "wished he could say he was disappointed" and that he never saw an actual offer from the other dealer (I forwarded him the exact email from Woodfield). When I responded to him by calling him out on the fact that he did not want to negociate with me, took the easy way out by asking me for my final number, and then could not beat that number, he replied very politely and I figured that was that.

What happened next, I cannot prove was something he did but I'm fairly certain it was. About 15 minutes after his last email to me my iphone started going crazy...all at the same time I began receiving tons of out of state phone calls and emails from insurance companies, colleges...you name it. I believe Tim released my name to these companies to contact me directly as being a potential customer lead. I know agents have access to these lists and can add/opt-out customers to them. I'd love to report him to his manager at McGrath (and still might), but I can't prove anything. In the end, he's realy just not worth my time.

In short, my suggestion to everyone is to steer clear of him all together.

Costco pricing for RDX?

Any Costco members among us who had experience with Costco pricing on an RDX? I'll be purchasing an RDX end of next month and was curious if anyone had looked into the Costco-negotiated price.

I contacted costco. My dealership was autowest acura on stevenscreek. They quoted me AWD with tech at $37582 before ttl. I took that price and went to hopkins. They beat it by $400.

Seems quite reasonable -- better than I expected for little hassle. I'll probably try that myself. I'm in the East Bay, so my dealerships would be Fremont and Pleasanton. We bought our TL in '06 from Pleasanton and do service there -- we were happy with the purchase and the service has been good, so I wouldn't mind purchasing there again. Neither dealer has the combo I want currently in stock - FSW/AWD/Tech - so I'll have to see what happens...

It's amazing that car dealers can be off by $4k for the same exact car.

After doing the math, it seems to me that $41299 OTD is not that far off from your Hopkins price + ttl. Did I miss something? Of course, you probably bought before the sales tax increase hit.

Also, it appears that you did well if I believe the truecar.com pricing.

Yeah, only $400+ difference. Alameda's taxes are higher than here on the peninsula which could account for some of the difference.

...i was a bit unscientific...just told Pleasanton Acura (CA) that i wanted an RDX with Tech Pkg, and the first digit, with taxes included, needed to be a '3'...
The came close...40020...so i requested they throw in a set of all weather mats, and deal was done.
This was in September, and climate may have been better/worse than today...a few months prior to this and i would not have had a chance at this price, as it was new/hot.
But i have seen folks thruout the country with better and worse deals, it all just depends on all the factors...locale, demand, availability, time of the month, supply, etc etc........

I will be buying an AWD with tech as soon as my current cars sells (hoping I can do better than the dealer and Carmax quoted me..trying to sell it privately). When negotiating with my closest dealer, they quoted me 38,200 (plus tax, etc). I haven't emailed any other dealers in the area yet. Anybody out there in Southern California with better prices? Anybody know how much over invoice they are giving for Costco members? Trying to get my info before I start haggling seriously. Thanks to everyone on this thread for all the help so far!

I'm from SoCal, I bought my car back in June, and the dealer Costco referred me to did not even want to go below MSRP. My initial quote from South Coast Acura (before options) was $38,465 plus tax and license, so your price is better than mine.

Taxes vary from state to state; but by trading our XC60 worth $25K, I was able to save the sales tax on that amount--->$1500. To 'break even' on a private sale, I would have needed to sell for that amount above what the dealer offered on trade. Worth looking at when the numbers are that high, IMO. I don't know the circumstances in CA; but I hear the sales tax is a bear.

Well my car sold to the first looker, so I'm ready to buy. I went back and forth between a few dealers today and here is where I am at:

2013 AWD tech $38,100.00
They are throwing in wheel locks, bumper appliqué, cargo tray, door edge guards, and all weather floor mats. The price includes destination but does not include tax or license. Should work out to be about 41,500 out the door.

Anybody think I should do better? I'm going to buy tomorrow afternoon and hope I got the best deal! Stock is low here in Southern California. I really wanted an AWD base but couldn't find one anywhere within a couple hour drive in the color I want

Bought my new silver AWD tech today as planned. I ended up paying exactly what we had agreed on, there weren't any surprises. Overall it was a very positive experience.

Only drove abut 50 miles on it so far, but I'm loving it. I wasn't wanting the tech package but I will say..love the stereo system! Car drives very nice, and feels very solid.

Anybody have an opinion on the extended warranty? They offered the 5 year/100k miles for 1400 which retails at 2600. I'm wondering if it may be worth it for that price?

I got 8 year 96000/120000 (dont remember now) for 1500 USD in July 2012.

I know it is Acura and very reliable etc, but it is a peace of mind.

Congrats on the new vehicle. Regarding the extended warranty, you're essentially betting you will have a $1400+ repair after 48 months but before 60 months...not a great bet, IMO...and surely not one I would pay for 4 years before I could possibly use it.

And...there is no 'retail' price on that policy. Five different customers would likely get 5 different quotes or 'offers' for the same coverage.

Well I drive about 20,000 miles or more per year..so I figure it will give me between 2-3 years more of warranty. Havent decided if I will for sure though..

I can see your logic; but, you're still paying 2.5-3 years in advance for a potential covered repair that would exceed $1400 after any deductibles. I reckon the 'severity' of your driving situation could play a role. If you're cruising on the highway for many of those miles, the vehicle will likely shrug 'em off. If you're stop and go, dusty, hill-climbing, towing sorts of driving, that could make a difference.

There's a reason 'they' would happily sell the 'policy' at the reduced price. The F&I person is lickin' their chops.

Good point CoachRick..
I drive 95% highway mikes and we take very good care of our cars. I think the thing with my new Rdx that worries me is that it's a new model, and all of the electronics.

I only have until Tuesday to decide, but leanng towards passing on it...
