You might be able to squeeze out a few hundred dollars more, but that's a pretty solid deal. If you have another dealer to contact you might be able to get them to undercut it a bit, but I don't think there's significantly more margin to work with.

im sure this is a given but the 2014 would probably be a couple grand more you think?

The 2014s are just hitting the lots, so you'd probably be lucky to get those more than a few hundred off MSRP.

On Sunday I managed to get a 2013 RDX base (black on black ) certified loaner for $33.3K OTD (price of the RDX was around $31k), I added the 5 yr/60k service package for ~ $965. Only 8600 miles on it and with the extended warranty I think I got a good deal.

Why were there 8600 miles on it already? If it's used I think you might have paid a bit on the high side. I'd be willing to wager you could have gotten a brand new 2013 RDX for about $31k (plus tax, tag, license, dealer fees) after some negotiation.

As I said, the vehicle was one of the dealer's loaner cars, and they had only put 8600 miles on it. So it was "used", but not really used, since the dealer kept it, maintained it and I'm sure other owners were not abusing it since it was a loaner. Since I originally posted, I recalculated and paid about $30.5K for the vehicle. I looked over all maintenance records, have copies of them and am pretty sure that the Certified warranty adds value. With the condition of the vehicle (excellent - no scratches, scuffs, or marks in general), the limited mileage and confidence in the dealer's reputation and maintenance, I consider it to be a new vehicle with a free extended warranty. I also had them throw in the cargo cover.

Well, as long as you're happy.

From my perspective, the fact that it was a loaner makes it even less of a deal. I'm sure they maintained it, but those to whom the vehicle was lent probably abused it. Your car basically served as a rental car for a year. I'm sure Budget and Enterprise maintain their fleets pretty well also, but I certainly wouldn't buy one of their vehicles after its rental life ended. I'd be especially concerned that the first few who borrowed the car probably didn't give a thought to the break-in period.

+1 I'd rather abuse a loaner than my own car!

I see a wide range of prices here. Has anyone used Costco or Sams to purchase their RDX & if so, are their prices as low as some of these posted? The best price for an AWD tech (before TT&L) is about $37k (except for the $35k posted by a military person) & the best price for a FWD tech (w/o TT&L) is $34,900.

I have had very good luck with other makes when using Costco, so if anyone that has posted is a Costco or Sams member please let me know if that is how you got your deal. Thanks

As a clarification to my earlier post - I noted the best price as being those posted in this forum - not a price quoted by Costco or Sams

I started my negotiations through Costco. The quote I got was $38.5k + destination + TTL. I ended up negotiating down to 37k including destination after haggling a bit and getting two dealers to bid against one another. I also ended up buying from the dealer where I've been doing maintenance for years. In any case, Costco helps get the opening volley's price lower, but it doesn't seem like its going to net you the lowest price on its own.

I already purchased my car (2013 AWD Tech with cargo mat, all weather mat and wheel locks) in April for $37,000 including destination. I only went for it because I got a really good trade in value based on my research. From what I am seeing (several dealers still send me email quotes), you can probably get a 2014 AWD Tech for around $38,000 including destination.

Not all the dealerships will take the Costco Car program. It is up to the dealership to choose which cars they want to include with the program. That is how I started my negotiations. My local dealer told me they will not include new cars in the Costco Car program for the first 6-8 months. I still got a nice deal on my RDX without Costco.

Now that it's end of the year, how much can I expect to pay OTD for a 2013 RDX AWD w/ Tech??? Is 36K or 37K OTD unreasonable?

I'm a terrible negotiator so would like some help!

Not reasonable, unless you pay tax & tags separately yourself. MSRP is $40515 and invoice is a couple hundred above $38000 with destination and ad fee. There are no cash incentives and with RDX sales volume, there is no need. Consider that and account for your proper tax & tags.

Thanks Beach for your reply. But the prices you mention are the same for 2014 so I figured for a leftover 2013 I could request a few thousand off at least

I want to clarify something: when you guys mention OTD (out the door), I am assuming you're including all sales tax, doc fee, registration, plates, and other associated fees, right? Since tax and all fees vary from State to State, some even vary zip code to zip code, we should state what the actual vehicle price is and the location, instead of all an inclusive price that's skewed. This will paint a clearer picture for others who are in the market.

Just bought a 2014 RDX AWD Base through the Costco Auto Program. Price was $35,050 + taxes. No idea if I could have done better on my own, but the hassle free no BS experience was outstanding. Would definitely recommend the Costco Auto Program.

Just got a "used" 2013 RDX Tech with 1060 miles on it for $35,200. Could not tell it from new. Think we got a pretty good deal.
Happy to see an active forum for this vehicle!

Using the USAA car insurance buying service, they were able to find a cost of 37,750 for a 2014 RDX AWD tech pkg. This is in CA, there is no cost for the service if you are a member. It does not include tax, registration etc...

CharlieZ,
Please clarify. Did the $37,750 price for the 2014 RDX with AWD and tech pkg include the destination charge of $895? To further clarify, my understanding is the dealer invoice for the 2014 RDX AWD with tech is $37150 (and this does not include the non-negotiable destination charge of $895).

Hey everyone, Purchased my 2014 AWD w Tech for $37,300 -- that price already includes destination fee. This was price before tax, title, reg. The other offers I had from other dealers varied from $37,8 to $38,9 so I'm very pleased with the price. I did not trade in either.

Hey everybody, just got back from the dealer in Cerritos and picked up a 2014 AWD w Tech for $37,000 including destination fee.

I got an initial offer by email from another dealer for $37,634 and started calling several dealerships in my area trying to beat that. When I fibbed and told one dealer that another had offered $36,950 I knew that I had found the bottom, so I went over to the dealership that agreed to $37K and signed the paperwork. Overall very easy negotiation all done by phone. Seems like now is a great time of year to buy one of these.

For sure, those dealers/sales mgrs who are trying to 'hit their number' will be making some deals over the next few days!

I purchase a 2014 RDX FWD w/ Tech for $35K. I used my employer sponsored option for discount car buying service (a link associated with True car), The price I received was $35988 for the vehicle so I just sent an email to dealers in three different cities stating that I would pay $35K and purchase ASAP. Once the dealer countered with the $35300, I emailed my dealer of choice and told them I would buy now at $35k and they accepted.
It was pretty easy in my opinion.
Now, some of the dealers were insisting that they could not sell the car at that price while others were asking me to come in to test drive or negotiate. I simply stated that I don't negotiate in person but via email. This eliminates those dealers that like to play games or scams to conduct business. I prefer to deal with dealers who have some integrity and be as straight forward as possible.
I wasn't asking for them to throw in any extras to ensure that this was a fair and amicable price.

The best time to try this will be between now and the first of the year. The dealers are going to want to try and make their numbers. If you walk into the dealership without negotiating first, they will have the upper hand.

Thanks!

Coming form a Honda CRV -EXL it is a nice move. I tried to like the new CRV but it just looks too hideous for me to seriously consider.
I don't think the ACURA RDX is a $40K but a $35K car in my opinion. The vehicle has quite a bit of plastic inside but I am used to this. There are also many features standard in other vehicles in this price range that included things such as bumper sensors or Lane Change Assist.
However, I have been driving long enough to not need those items in this vehicle as my other higher end vehicles have them included in them.
This is just my daily driver so I am really looking for gas mileage and reliability.

I'm currently in the process of buying an 2014 AWD Base RDX and have been quoted at 33.8k as the selling price with the out the door price at 37.3k. The guy won't really budge on the price. Is this a good deal guys?
