Just looked at the pics again. Its not bright enough to see the true fitment of the lip. And with my luck I wouldnt be able to get it to fit properly, so Id rather get the lip from Noah.

Picked up some more detailing supplies to add to the shelf. I can't help myself whenever they send me coupon codes

Plus, I got my garage back! I can actually fit the car in it!!!!

Last week I washed it then pulled it in the garage and gave it a nice coat of Blackfire Wet Diamond. We're through 2 storms and a shit load of pollen (that Ive sprayed off twice now) and the car still holds a nice gloss. Im going to strip everything off the car towards the end of May, polish, and reseal it for the summer.

Speaking of which, June is going to be a busy month for meets.

June 4th and 5th is the East Coast Honda Meet in Richmond and Fredericksburg.
June 11th and 12th is the National Meet in Kansas City.
June 18th is the Skyline Drive Meet in Northern VA.

Barring any unforeseen circumstances, I will be present at all three meets.

Ive actually had the BFWD for awhile. I used it on my bike, I just never used it on the CL.

I just ordered some CG Black Light finish (got good reviews, was on sale so decided to try it), CG Black on Black (dont want to use the 303 protectant on the engine as that stuff is expensive), CG Grime Reaper APC, Dodo Juice Time To Dry, and Wheel Wax.

I also bought a xenon flashlight since I plan on doing a full paint correction in May. Its going to be my first time polishing the CL (Ive done my bike in the past), but at least I have a spare hood to test on first.

Im slowly building up my arsenal. Its raining right now, but I still plan on ONR'ing the car and pulling it into the garage. I may toss two coats of the Black Light on it too to see how it is.

I have the CG Grime Reaper...it's great on the exhaust tips to clean them up before polishing.

Did you get the Brinkmann Flashlight?

Morgan, you will fall in love with your car all over again after you get a paint correction. You can rinse your car off with water 6 months after you get it done and it will still look like it was just waxed

Ive gotten the paint corrected twice already (first one wasnt the greatest, second was owed as part of a trade). It still looks good since the last correction:

Sorry bout the smell phone pics. I didnt feel like breaking out the real camera.

There are a few swirls here and there. The clear coat on my roof is getting worse however. I have a feeling Im going to end up breaking down and getting it resprayed. Its not something I want to do, but I can't bring myself to drive around in a car with clear coat failure. I love seeing the sun hit it at the right angle and seeing the blue flake pop. But the roof doesnt shine like the sides of the car does due to the clearcoat issue. And the lower half of the doors have a shit load of rock chips since the mudflaps dont do much for wider tires/wheels. The rear bumper looks pretty bad too and the front bumper probably needs to be replaced.

You're making me feel better about my car Front end is chipped and pitted to shit.

Do you have a DA? I'd recommend getting one and correcting the paint yourself. Buying all the tools and products costs about the same as a quality detail, except of course you now have all the stuff to fix up any other issues. Only reason my paint is corrected is because it won't last long.

Any pics of the roof? Have you considered covering it in Di-Noc or something to hide the clear failure, even as a temp solution? I don't know if it would be your style, but it would be cheaper than getting resprayed, and might go well with the CF hood and trunk if you ever get it.

There's no way I'd di-noc the roof. I think it looks like shit.

Plus, some of the CC failure is on the pillars themselves, which wouldnt be covered. Ive got a Porter Cable, which Ive had for a few years now. It took me some time to get the balls to use it though, I was scared I would mess up the paint even more.

Yea, but not as bad as you, at least near me. There were tornadoes east of me. We had a tornado watch and warning but we only got nasty thunderstorms and strong wind.

If I repaint, Im going to get the 3M clear film on the entire front bumper, half the hood, the front half of the fender, the lower portion of the doors, entire sideskirt, entire mirrors, the A pillar, the leading edge of the roof (yes, Ive gotten rock chips up there ) part of the rear bumper, gas cap area, door handles, and the lower portion of the trunk lid. With all the sand and shit on the roads here, those areas get beat up a lot.

i plan on getting my whole front bumper covered. i would also do the lower half of the doors but i hate it will leave that line where the bra ends. i hate seeing that on cars that have them on their hoods.

If its done right the line should be minuscule. IIRC the newer films are thinner then they used to be but just as strong.

I don't mind the lines as long as they are clean. Mine is like a piece of art. Ppl always have good comments when they see it.

Paint can still chip thru it if rock is big and pointy enough. Even if it dsnt get thru to the paint it will leave a lil mark on film also. I also have a few tiny spots of the bra that got stained by bugs or road debree that won't come off. Otherwise no complaints.

I dont mind the film getting messed up. Its better then the paint. I can always have that piece replaced anyway.

How much did the film run you and what did you have covered?

I covered the entire front bumper, a lil less than half the hood, part of front fenders, mirrors, and behind the rear wheels on rear bumper. Oh he also did a strip that goes around the painted grill surround too. Only place i didnt do really that I maybe should have was behind front wheels. I have only noticed 1 or 2 small chips tho so not big deal. I think they ended up using 20-25 square feet and they spent like 6 hours applying it charged me 600.

came out really good Morgan! Get those two dents fixed. yes I have the eye for that.

clear bra is good, but I hate the looks of it. i'm gonna clear bra teh front bumper and the side mirrors on mine and thats about it.

if i remember right, its close to 500 - 600 to just clear bra teh frontend of the car.

if you mean clear bra i would say 3m. I have the 3 layer version with the clearcoat top layer.

http://www.squidoo.com/vehicle-clear...tion-explained

3M SCOTCHGARD
A few Personal notes based on my installation experience:
- 8 mils thick film with clear top coat finish.
- 3M warranty covers both the film cost and partial labor cost if installed by a 3M certified installer.
- 3M was the first company to introduce the paint protection film and also the first to include a top clear coat finish.
- The film is less stretchable then other films on the market which makes it harder to install.
- The adhesive is also not as clear as other films on the market which gives an appearance of orange peel.
- Stretch marks are also more noticeable then some other films on the market.
- Best film I have used for custom hand cut application such as an aftermarket bumper.

btw the 3m film does have a texture to it. Some people have asked me about it when they saw it on hood.

It's pretty bright and works well. It took me a few tries to get it at the right angle on my paint to try and see the imperfections. (maybe there were just no imperfections...haha )

I read some reviews where people said the battery would last a long time. Not too much for me. Half way through using it I could tell it was starting to dim.

I still use it, but I ended up getting some halogens from Home Depot.

a quality install will also be able to minimize that visible line, let alone some films are "clearer" then others also (and stand up to the elements better also)
