My motor build is 1 month old today, I dropped off all the parts & paid 3/3/11 so I somewhat feel your pain.

I feel like a genius though because I'd have lost it 2 weeks ago if my car were down, I am very glad I bought the block & heads.

I know, I need them badly. Im at the point where I might just get a new flex pipe welded on to hold me over.

I think I sent the payment at the end of January.

It is a good thing you got a seperate motor for the build. I still dont get why you would have the guy that dicked you over on the exhaust build it though.

He does good work, I know he will come through, his price is fair and as far as the exhaust he was very slow, but not a ripoff.

This is what happens when you get custom things made. It always takes time.

Couple updates, nothing major.

- Installed the Progress rear sway bar. Ive been driving around for almost 2 weeks without a rear sway bar so I can really feel a difference, and I definitely do. I love the new bar so far. The car corners flat.

- Did another oil change Im at 135,6xx miles right now. Heading to NY Thursday or Friday, so Ill have another 1k miles or so by next Monday.

- Finally replaced the fender liner for the drivers front fender. Its been cracked for nearly a year but Ive been lazy. Also took the time to toss the CAI extension back on.

- Also did this:

I broke the (A) a long time ago, so I already ordered a new one. I know its a bit crooked, but this one is the test mule to see how the di-noc and vinyl sticker handle the heat of the engine bay. The vinyl didnt want to stick to the di-noc at first, but its good right now.

i think u can still reuse this sticker if u use some tape to lift the three stripes on the left and move them a little bit to the right. just that alone will help it look better
cant really tell about the crookedness

Yeah his current wheels have been on there too long. You need to change them out every other month to keep your wheel whore status

Ill probably be changing the my avatar soon too.

Forgot to post this update:

I hate chrome, so I finally got around to blacking it out. I used Plastidip and it matches the rest of the rubber trim very well. I screwed up Sunday though, I let the paint dry too long and when I pulled off the tape the paint pulled up in a few spots. I redid it yesterday though and it looks better. Now to do the driver side

Im thinking about doing the emblems too, but we'll see.

It took me about 20 minutes to tape everything off, so I wasnt too worried about it. The occasional breeze was annoying though since I had to do it outside.

Its always nerve racking when we get strong winds and the trees start swaying a lot. We've had a few big branches fall close to the driveway, I guess its just a matter of time before something gets hit

I left work about an hour later then I wanted to and there wasnt much light and my phone wouldnt focus much, but heres the passenger side blacked out:

I had to use the "HDR" setting to see anything. Better pics will be posted tomorrow.

Yea the chrome plastic sucks. I personally don't like fake cf either, for me it's real or nothing. Did you hold up the rubber sides when you painted? Or did you just paint middle section, and if you lift up rubber it is chrome under?

I'm thinking blackout tape might be better.

Idk if theirs special tape for this but I tried electrical tape (2" wide roll so I have some play room) and still didn't like the way it was looking. With the sun and then washing the car, the electrical tape will start to peel.

No more chrome FTW!

I used the trimbrite tape. Held up pretty good up until recently there is some peeling at the one edge.

Ive tried the tape. Ive got a few rolls of it here. I could never get it to lay perfectly. The paint looks the same and doesnt have any bubbles. If I want to pull it off, its rubber, just peel it off. I didnt pull up on the rubber. I just taped it off very carefully.
