Yungone501's- Excessive infatuation with the J-series
#1004
Everyone knows that I mentioned that I'd be buying an 09 RL motor (j37a2 with exhaust VTEC) here maybe a week and a half ago. Long story short, I cancelled the motor after the Canadian LKQ division didn't run my card information because it just happened that I realized that my heads on this build had bad valve guides and figured I'd be buying new heads at around $1200 cost. Around the same time, Matt offered me a engine/trans for my TL that's been waiting patiently for some time and so I came up with a solution. I'd reuse the previous j35a8 heads I had on the engine before this 3.7 and go ahead and buy the engine/trans from Matt and all would be well. Did it and everything was good. Then it happened...
This beauty showed up. The canceled 09 RL engine that wasn't supposed to be delivered arrived. So now I have way too many motors and probably will be calling on a few you guys to take some off of my hands and sell them at some discounted rates so I can clear out my shop and replenish my bank account.
I haven't officially created a for sale thread and just wanted to sort of "test the waters" with an announcement but here's what ive got hat will be sold.
*one clean j32a2 engine with harness that's in excellent condition and 100% complete. I believe it cam from an 03 TL-S but may have been an 02. I don't remember.
* one j35a6 (2005 Odyssey) long block assembly (block, rotating assembly and heads) that has roughly 55k miles and is missing various things such as oil pan, lower intake manifolds and up, and oil pump. This is also a clean engine.
* one j37a2 (09 RL 3.7) engine minus the cylinder heads and was purchased from LKQ with a documented 88 miles according to them. It's seen some salt possibly while sitting but overall I've inspected it and looks great. Again, no cylinder heads.
* j32a2 block (high mileage @ 135k miles) with rotating assembly. It's a good rebuildable block if not usable in the condition it sits. I bought it for the heads and again, from LKQ who said it was a good running engine.
* j35a3 block (112k miles) with rotating assembly. This one was also purchased from LKQ and used only the heads off of it. The engine ran when they pulled it so should be fine but could also be considered a rebuildable core.
* a complete j32a3 engine with wiring harness that has 70k miles on it and ran strong according to LKQ. Nothing was removed from this motor since I've owned it but it did NoT come with any accessories as all motors generally don't.
* a rebuildable j30a1 engine out of my 98 Accord in this build thread that had 330k miles on it when pulled. Engine lost compression due to rings and also had a head gasket leak. It's almost complete minus intake system.
* I also have an entire shelf almost filled with heads from all types of j-series engines and all are used and most are in good working condition. There's 3.2, 3.5 and 3.7 heads.
If anyone is interested, don't hesitate to PM me or text me at 214-592-3452. As I said, I need them gone ASAP. Will ship in the US.
Btw, car is running strong...NO SMOKE! It's about that time that we all have been patiently waiting on. Can't wait to show you guys and finally have my car back. Will try and get some leaps and bounds progress made over the weekend and will take some pics and videos to share with you guys.

I got two GoPro's with suction cup attachments I'm not particularly attached to, like the Butt Dyno confirmer. Original HD Motorsports versions with all accessories and boxes.

Robert, hit me up if you still have my number....no promises, but I might be able to pick up a set of heads from ya

I just realized I may have mislead you guys by saying that the car runs strong. I meant that the engine itself is finally problem free. The car still needs minor reassembly to get on the road but then she will have to be tuned for the new motor/cams Im running now.
Speaking of cams...after working out the kinks, these babies sing a nice song at idle. Motor sounds ridiculous and Im starting to become nervous with excitement!
PM me a price please.
PM me your number again Anil. What heads are you needing/wanting exactly? I literally have SHELVES of heads.

The j32a3 engine is pretty much just as common in the salvage yards today as the j32a2 engines from the 2g CL/TL Type S models. You can buy a low mileage engine from either LKQ or car-parts.com for $200-$400 and simply swap the complete assembly rather than switching out parts before the install....and get a free replacement warranty if you go through LKQ.

Kinda makes me wish i had built mine for boost

Kris, you know that the 3.7 internals were forged for strength, and not weight reduction like most of all other Honda's parts? Well, at least the j37a2 and j37a4 internals were. The j37a1 internals were still forged for weight purposes.
And if I remember correctly, you used an 89mm bore block didn't you? If so, I would only take it up to no more than 3-5psi IF you can find a way to tame that ECM of yours.
I think Rich is running the same setup and he's spraying. And nitrous is way more volitile than boost.

yeah the tranny in 2G TL and 04-05 was the weakest is what I understand...06 was better and 07-08 was further improved....
