VAFC2 and Frog Harness install :D Finalllllllly lol

OK guys just a whole ordeal but it turns out we are stupid lol we thought the airbag controller was the ecu ... didnt realize the ecu is behind the center console.

Anyways my idea was to put the vafc2 in the sunglass holder and be sneaky sneaky ... so we did this at the time thinking the airbag controller was the ecu so we though we had justttttttttttttttt enough length.

Open the controller up and the plugs are wrong. So I call Pascal at Frog, not realizing our error, and he said it might be the car itself as he hasnt sold many 02/03 type s harnesses.

Anyways we call Pascal again and talk things out and realize our error.
So now we are in a bind. There is about a two foot gap in between the frog harness and the vafc wiring. So what to doooo ........

well we extended the wires on the vafc itself by two feet and used butt harnesses and crimped them shut.

Everything worked great and install went clean.

So heres how we ran the wires ...

We put the VAFC2 in the sunglass holder drilled a one inch by 1 1/2 inch rectangle on top of the sunglass holder. Fed the wire through (with all the butt harnesses) down through the a pillar. Once we got out of the A-pillar we ran the wire underneath the weather stripping in the area where the door closes. After that we ran it through the fuse panel to underneath the glove box (I found a little latch sort of thing under there so i hung the wires there) And then we pulled the carpet up a bit, installed the harness, put the carpet back down and viola we are done The only thing that doesnt fit is the fuse panel because it goes into where the weatherstripping is and the wires from the vafc make it bulge a little. So we need to dremel the fuse panel a little bit to make it fit properly.

Other then that everything is perfect !!! We were able to keep the VAFC in place by using 1" wide velcro on the back of the VAFC2 So the long waited for pics

no not hugeeeeeee power gains

also vtec didnt kick in like i thought it would when we lowered it .. you can feel it kick in but you can still feel it really kick in at 5100 ... i guess because we havent adjusted the pressure yet.

So yea ill give a few reviews tomrorow

btw it works by adjusting the vtec engadgement point and the timing.fueling

What's the p/n for the FROG harness?

Also, setting VTEC lower really doesn't help as the amount of air going through the plenum is not the same versus 48-5100 RPM.

There is no HP gain. You just get the power initiated at a lower rpm. There are those who don't beleive it is worth it and that the preset engagement is perfect. One never knows until you try. I think it has it's advantages to a point, a think 400-500 rpm sooner is a great starting point. Just my opinion.

THINJIM ... THERE "IS" A HP GAIN. It might only br 4 or 5 hp but nevertheless when you mess around with the fueling and what not there is a slight gain.

This is basically for the most part to SMOOTH the powerband out as well as INITAITE the power band sooner. Basically resulting in more hp earlier.

I will be tuning it to 4100 today.

JUST SO EVERYONE KNOWS THE TACHOMETER IS OFF BY 300RPM ... im trusting this by the vafc since it is run through the ecu. In first it says you can hit 7300 on the tach but it is really only 6995 on the vafc2

wuts up...the VAFC placement was a good idea...looks clean to what i can tell in the dark ...i live in orlando too and am working on getting a 3.2...do you go to ucf or just live in oviedo?...i got a bunch of friends that go there...get back at me cuz the VAFC might be the first thing i do when i get the car and might need you to install it....one more thing, i recommend getting it dyno'd or tuned at CFT to get the most out of your VAFC...

Everyone's tach is going to be off slightly. I wouldn't say that EVERYONE's tach is off by 300 rpm.

You can pick up some power by leaning out the fuel mixture. I did it prior to my supercharger install. The optimum gains occured by leaning the mixture out to around 13.1:1 to 13.5:1 FYI. Although, i'd get headers before I even bothered tuning it.
