Supercharger or 3.5 liter conversion? vote or chime in.

Thats it, I need to have my car supercharged, took a ride ina friends TL with the SC and it was addictive. Either that or the 3.5 upgrade. Which do you guys suggest, I definetly need more power, but I want it to be pretty much bolt on and bolt off just in case. I have to feel a difference to and trouble free. Please vote and suggest.
Oh, and if anybody is selling their 3.5 conversion or Comptech Super charger, let me know, I am so serious about this.

I really like that idea. Never thought of it. ThinJims turbo is another great option.

Theres no going back from a 3.5, well at least not easily. Supercharger is much easier to remove.

I can't speak on the 3.5 conversion, but I do have to agree that it does not meet your criteria (bolt on). So the answer seems pretty simple, Supercharger. I don't know about the 3lbs of boost, but at 9lbs it can be fun. Tin's turbo would be cool and would definetly be alittle more unique.

The supercharger at low boost on a 6-speed will easily net you 60whp.

I say go for the supercharger. You can always take it off and go back to stock. Once you make the investment in the stroker motor it's a lot harder (if at all possible) to recoup some of your money if/when you decide to sell the car.

9lbs is going to require a intercooler/aftercooler and engine management. Quite the investment.

Keep It Simple...

Supercharger and call it a day. 60 + whp is more than enough to get you into the trouble you are looking for in addition, if you are itching for more... Add the high boost pulley, upgraded injectors and management and call it a day.

You can still go back to stock from that configuration of you decide to part out.

Estimate 4K on the low side including installation. If you do the work yourself, the savings of 500.00 to 800.00 for the install.

i say go with whatever that is going to show the best results at the track. Havent seen any times for a supercharged 6 speed CL going into the low 13s so..... I mean im not going to spend 3-4 grand just to drive around on the street and speed and listen to a blower wined. for 3-4grand if im running 13.9 with intake and header i wanna be running 13.5 with the supercharger and even faster wit the HBP, intercooler and managemnet, other wise a $900 full nitrous kit has been proven to put a 6 speed at 13.5 at the minimum. Thats just my opinion though, im more into the performing at the track more than performing on the street.

I hear ya, even then the FPR have been changed, so I'm not to keen on that. Think Ima go new and have less worries, but I got to confirm when they will be available again. Who else sells the comptech stuff? I'm still gonna go with Excelerate, but I want to confirm availablility.

3.5 conversion has the potential to make almost as much power as the SC on low boost, plus you dont have to worry about heat soak. It can potentially be cheaper as well if you get the parts for cheap.

If the motor (odyssey/MDX) is around $300 then rest of the parts will come out to about 1K which will leave you with install, assuming the engine is in good condition and you really dont need to send it to a machine shop, and you can just replace the pistons in it.

I too am contemplating the 3.5 swap for its price, relative simplicity and NA status. Once you want more power from the supercharger it can get quite expensive, not to mention the hassle of removing the supercharger for maintenance and diagnostics.

If you have seen Ron's car, I doubt he really cares about the track. True, some of us may be curious, but it is the same as purchasing any high performance car. If a person can afford it, I doubt the car will spend any significant amount of time on a 1/4 mile track.

If you weren't considering selling it later on, I'd say do the 3.5L stroker. But for simplicity sake, I'd suggest blower with HBP, and not the LBP.

I was always under the impression that when going to the HBP it is smart to get Emanage/Harness and tune for optimal configuration. That reduces simplicity and increases cost.

I don't know what you're talking about. I ran a 13.4 @ 108mph with a slipping clutch with a meh 60 ft of 2.2X.

I'm certain the car can hit 12's on a good suspension and if the clutch grabs with a good launch.

The standard CT SC is a nice piece with some gains in the entire power band of the car. It's easy to install, & is maintenance free & nothing else needs to be done. No intercooler, no upgraded radiator, just bolt & go.
The standard setup.....Anything beyond that including the HBP is another story.

in your case, if you want just bolt on and bolt off easy to install/remove mods like you stated go with a SC. You answered your own question with that one. A 3.5 buildup isn't exactly bolt on if you look at what's involved.

I didn't need the eManage for the HBP and most don't use it either.

+ torque steer from hell, possible axle breaks, and the headache to have to map that with e-manage when all you can go on is maps from 3.2 turbo cars.
