Sick Idea

What do you guys think if i went with a 2.25 inch pipe from the cat to a single muffler in the middle, out to the Y with no muffler with pipes on both sides and the tips. It would be the same exhaust bu with one muffler and dual outlets. How do you think i would fare torque wise, do you think it would make much of a difference. I am just trying to see whats up. Because me and a friend are gonna be using my car as a guinea pig for some things now.

My guess would be a slight gain in low-end torque due to increased backpressure, but a loss in high-end torque.

Or I have no f'in idea what I'm talking about. Either one.

F the muffler... do stra8 pipes from the Cat... you will have enough back pressure... Just don't do 3 inch all the way... do 3 inch tips only...Totally badass...

Make it 3" pipes up to the muffler, then 2.25 to the ends. THen make that one muffler a dual capacity muffler, ala G35.

so at low RPM's it would be a single exhaust ( stock back pressure) then it would turn to dual exhaust at high RPM and give you more HP.

where the heck can i get a dual capacity muffler. Will running a sing exhaust reduce backpressure, or increase it.

The Type S's exhaust is as high flow as it gets. If you alter it too much, something would probably get messed up somwhere.

gains most likely would be minimal if not detrimental to power unless you were pushing more power out of it already (NOS, FI) that would cause more exhaust from exiting. I think the key restrictive part that people have been complaining about is that A-pipe or downpipe or whatever it's called.
