Change of plans, picking it up today. Theres a storm coming in and theyre calling for up to 15" of snow at Pauls, so getting it tomorrow would be impossible. Im going up this afternoon to get it. I have a feeling the traffic is going to turn my 2.5 hour drive into a 4 hour drive though

No pics right now. I had the worst drive back ever.

I left Richmond at 330p and got to Pauls at 730p (its only a 2.5 hour, 150 miles drive). Wasnt snowing on the way up, just rush hour traffic.

I bullshitted with Paul til around 8pm, then got on the road when it started to flurry. At 920pm last night I was at mile marker 150 on I95. The snow was sticking to ground, but it wasnt too bad.

At 104am (I have texts to verify ) I was at mile marker 108. So thats nearly 4 hours to go 46 miles.

But wait!! It gets worse!!!

At 233am (1 hr, 29 mins later) I moved 9 miles.

MM 98 - 255am

MM 78 - 350am, at which point we all stopped because they shut I95 south bound down.

VDOT didnt have any plows actually plowing. I saw one stuck in a ditch, and the other 4 I saw werent doing a damn thing.

I fell asleep sometime around 430am, in the left lane on 95. I woke up around 445a and said fuck it and made a u-turn and drove the wrong way down an entrance ramp and took surface streets home.

I attempted to pull into my driveway at 630am (a full 10.5 fucking hours after I left Pauls). I couldnt get up it thanks to my trusty summer tires so I just parked the fucking thing in the street. I just got it into the driveway this evening.

The shittiest part of the whole thing was the surface streets were plowed, while 95 was covered with snow and ice.

And it wasnt like we got alot of snow, maybe 6 inches fell. But had they prepped the roads prior to this storm, we wouldnt have had these issues.

Aside from that bullshit, the car drove great. Ive got a total of about 160 miles on it so far. Ive got 500 miles of stop and go traffic (which I did plenty of last night ) for the clutch, and I cant rev it above 4k for the first 1k, and then I can incrementally increase it. Ill probably play it safe and bring it above 4k when I hit 1500 miles on it.

Once I get about 3k on it, Ill be getting it dyno'd.

I was able to get on the gas in 3rd at about 2k rpms (maybe 25% throttle) and I can tell already its a whole new beast.

The clutch is stiff, and it engages very quickly, but its surprisingly driveable. I hope to take it out for alittle drive tomorrow assuming the roads are clear and I will possibly be going to a meet, but only if its still happening.

Tomorrow I should be able to take some pictures of it. I was also try to take a video clip. The engine is so damn quiet now. Before it sounded like the valves were playing ping pong, but now you dont hear any of that. Also, the exhaust sounds amazing. The CT axle backs arent louder then they were with the 3.2, but theres a significant gurgle to it when I rev it. I exhaust gurgle.

Lol, Im in IT.

I went to a small meet today, but I wasnt able to wash the car before I went. There was tons of snow/salt stains on it. Heres an engine bay shot.

Im supposed to go on vacation tomorrow, but I may change my flight to later in the week. If I do that, I should be able to clean the car and take some better engine bay shots.

Lol, yea it is waaaaaaaaaaaaaay off topic.

I might as well consider this my build thread since I never made a proper build thread.

I think the black manifold would be too much, but Ill photoshop it and see how it looks.

J37 Crank, 05 RL pistons, and what rods? I didn't think that the J37 was a drop in?? Are the pistons the oversize RL pistons?

Was the J37 crank and rods a drop-in? Did you need a diff oil pan? This is interesting..

Its 05 RL rods.

The snout on the J37 crank is shorter then the stock J32A2, so a spacer will need to be machined. Otherwise, its just like a 3.5 build.

instead of opening a new thread on the same thing ill just post here.

Went to install my 09 TL IM today. Ran into an erratic idle, would start up fine and and idle properly but once you touch the throttle it would start to idle up and down from 1000RPM to 1900RPM. Called sean at p2r and asked if it could be the butterfly plates and he said I didnt even need to run those so I took them out. Then he said to make sure the thermal gasket was pushed all the way over so it would cover and I noticed there was a leak there. Had to drill the holes for the bolts bigger so we could shift the gasket over to cover it. I had it covered and still wouldnt idle properly. The stock gasket acura gave me didnt line up properly with the IM so I had to make a temp gasket out of gasket maker. Did that and once everything was put back together the first time it idled good after I gave it gas then second time I pulled the throttle it went back to its up and down idling...

put the stock manifold back on and everything works fine.

Im going to block off the EGR and try it again with 2 new gaskets... anyone else have an idea of what could have cause this? I know civicdrivr had a bad manifold, but im hoping thats not the case with mine.

id leave the butterfly valves in and wire it up so they work.what about if u give it more throttle. does it still fluctuate? what about if u keep the idle steady at 2500rpm, what happens?

sean was explaining to me that its only used for lower end torque and he doesnt run them on his accord. I mentioned its a daily driver and he said its fine. If I wanted to hook them up I would need to get a 5pin plug that would connec tto the cover plate since the one on ours is a 2pin. Gave it more gas same thing, wouldnt settle down.

yeah, retested everything multiple times. Had my car in the shop from 12pm to 5pm trying every we could.

All we could think of is blocking off the EGR and getting a new gasket that properly covers the adapter.

The butterflies have nothing to do with idle.

I had a similar issue, it took a while for the ECU to learn the new airflow.

I suggest you reset the ecu & drive it for a few days.

There is additional acceleration to be had about 4k rpm when the butterflies actuate.

I drove it around locally and acouple minutes later it would struggle to stay on and CEL, VSA, and Traction control light came on. Turned the car off and back on and just the CEL stayed.

Are the butterflies essential?

I had the same issue, but when I reinstalled the stock manifold the erratic idle was still there. I couldnt figure it out. Its definately possible its the EGR though. I ended up blocking off my IACV. Its ghetto, but it works for the time being.

yeah, im glad when I put my stock manifold on everything was good.

blocking off the EGR is the only thing I can try, hoping its not a faulty manifold.

Also, the 3/4inch difference in height doesnt really matter cause its wider. Even with my 18 washers on each post it was still hitting so I quite possibly might take out my MDX IM spacer when I can get the 09 IM working properly.

the washers used to raise my hood so the IM would fit with the MDX IM spacer

there are 2 posts on each side of the hood

give me your manifold spacer seriously.

I say try blocking the egr, reset the ECU and see if the ECU will learn. You get similar issues when putting on bigger piping but it's just not as bad.

ill hook it up if I can get this manifold on

Im ordering the 09 TL thermal gasket and the p2r EGR block off plate on monday, so hopefully by the end of the month I will have dynos and timeslips. Still need to visit the track with my stock manifold, then again when my 09 IM is on. Hopefully in the same weekend but all depends on how smoothly everything goes with the manifold.
