Possible New Mod??
I had to swap the TPS from my old TB to the new one. The bored tb didnt have any sensors attached. It was just the bare tb.
Ive decided to postpone the dyno results. I dont want to drop the money on it knowing that theres something wrong, and I dont want to misrepresent this swap in any way. Ill have the results within the next week though, it just wont be tomorrow.

I just wanted to post a thank-you to 'civicdrivr' and 'e30cabrio' for doing the testing of these intake manifolds. Spending several hundred dollars on a modification that wasnt proven AND sharing the details as they went along (to the extent they have and with zero vested interest) is commendable. I know I am standing on the side-lines waiting for the bugs to be worked out before I commit to the IM swap but that doesnt leave me feeling good that these two guys had to spend the personal time/money/stress working out the bugs for my benefit. I know they would have done the mod regardless of others watching or not, but they took the personal time to share their progress and assist the forum in understanding what they have done to date on this.
At any rate, if they setup a paypal account, I would gladly send some $'s their way to show appreciation for the investment they made in ironing out the bugs so others could simply 'walk-in' to the mod. Maybe this flies in the face of how this forum works, but i am not talking big dollars, just a little something to show gratitude.
Thanks guys and by all accounts, this is looking to be a very promising mod. It will be my next mod as I am certain it will have excellent synergies with all the other modifications.
My mods at present on 2003 CL-S6 (btw, this is my 2nd CL, last was auto 2001 CL-S):
- comptech headers_installed 2 weeks ago_new from CT
- option pulley_installed 1 month ago
- P2R test pipe_inst 1 month ago
- Custom Cat-back exhaust (vibrant 3" in/out ultra quiet resonator)_installed 2 weeks ago
- Vibrant street power mufflers (got them locally for $70/each, that is why I chose them)
***exhaust will be switched to 3" b-pipe, and 2.5" axle back. Full mandrel.
- AEM CAI_came with car
- Koni yellow's on H&R springs
Remaining mods:
- Rear progress sway bar
- '09 TL- SH-AWD IM
- Tune (still not sold on what is the best way to tune a non-FI CLS6... neo/emanage?
Thanks again guys for your work...

Thankyou for the offer, but I dont want any money from you guys. Ive gotten plenty of ideas from this forum as well as others over the past few years that I think its about time I returned the favor.
I didnt mean to bring up the amount of money I had put into this in my little outburst, but it was just a frustrating day. I am quite confident that I figured out what the problem is, so it will be fixed by wednesday or thursday. Once I get numbers, the DIY will be posted, with pictures and all the little work arounds I had to deal with.
Hold off on deciding what to tune with. On one of the other forums we are talking with a company to make a direct PnP system for these engines and gives you full control. It is projected to be a bit pricey, around $1300, but if it does what its supposed to it is more then worth it in my mind (at least with what Im planning to do to the car

The parts I needed to fix the idle issue should be here today. UPS says they are out for delivery. I scheduled the dyno run for thursday afternoon, around 3pm after I get off from work. With any luck you guys will have results thursday evening.
Update:
This car is pissing me the fuck off. I replaced the IACV. I replaced all gaskets. Ive replaced all the vacuum lines. The idle is still fucked up. Ive adjusted the idle speed screw. I adjusted the idle butterfly bolt (the one near the cables), and I have slack in my throttle cables. The car refuses to idle lower then 1500rpms. I am about to swap the throttle body. If that doesnt work I will try one more thing. Whenever I hit the gas I hear a "woosh" sound coming from the throttle body side of the intake. The top plate may not be sealing properly. If that isnt it, then the last thing Im checking is the intake manifold itself. Its possible that Honda didnt seal the two halfs correctly and its sucking air in from there. Theres absolutely no reason why it should be giving me this much of a headache. E30 and P2R has gotten this setup to work fine. My car just seems to be the problem child.
And no, I didnt get the after dynos yesturday because of the idle issue. If it truely is a vacuum leak, I didnt want to dyno it if it would be down on power.

and when u switch the tb and still doesnt idle right, switch the im to the stock one. than if its possible but the p2r tb on the stock im and check if u have any leaks
with the car running, i forgot the name of the tool, but u spray this white power thing over where u thing its leaking and it will suck it in, no harm caused to the engine and will find the leak for you
i belive snap-on make a smoke testing machine...once i had a leak on my H22 intake manifold that i welded and i was running into the same problem...my mechanic had a tester that put pressured smoke in the intake manifold and we found out where the crack came from...maybe u know someone that has this tool??? good luck
no no..u put the smoke in the intake manifold through a vacume line going to the intake manifold and u cap the TB so there is a complete seal...because when u hook up the machine it creates pressure in the intake manifold ..now if u see the smoke there is a leak somwhere...this is a good test machine if u know someone who has one
Sorry this is not resolved for you Civic, I have a bit more than2k on mine and it runs great, I drove to L.A. this morning, got on it in the middle of nowhere and all I can say is I really love the car.
I put the stocker back on today. The manifold was 100% the issue. I am heading to Honda monday to *hopefully* exchange this one. It was leaking from the rear. I put the old manifold on and no idle problems.
Driving with the new manifold on that car felt like it had balls. According to my seat-of-the-pants dyno, it was making about 10hp more over the stock manifold. I cant wait to get a non-leaking manifold.
Sorry to those of you waiting for after numbers. Its going to be alittle while longer. Unfortunately something like this is out of my control. If its going to take more then two weeks to get a new manifold, Im going to get the exhaust fixed and re-do the before dyno runs. That also is dependant on if my new cat comes in before the manifold.

I think i'm going to order mine soon, not sure how long it will take to come in. I'll need P2R parts as well so it may be a while. I'll look into before and after dynos. I'm getting exhaust and pulley put on this week coming up, so the motor should be peachy.
It wasnt cracked, but I think the sealant they used to seal the two halfs wasnt doing its job. Once I put the old manifold on it ran like it used to. Im glad it wasnt something electrical.
Drove 850 miles this weekend Phoenix to L.A. Here are some impressions from the road.
at speed (60+) flooring it is much improved, 100 comes very quickly (2seconds?)
There are now three distinct power transitions when floored from 5th gear, first the 4th drop down, then VTEC, then the butterfly.
Each gives a surge of new power. I was with my Wife so I did not venture too fast but I was able to keep up with and keep in front of (when I was in front) a C6 Vette convertible for over two hundred miles of position jockeying.
The car was ok when I got it (stock) now it is reasonably fast as well as comfortable. I averaged 27mpg at an average of 75mph over the course of the trip

It is 113 here now, will not be under 90 until November so any dyno numbers I get will be low. I won't be thinking about dynoing it at least until it cools off if ever.
I just don't care whet the actual number is, I know it is considerably more than the 220-225 it was at the wheels stock, I am guessing 250+

Did I say those numbers are from the manifold? I am saying all my mods:
P2R CAI,Thermal gaskets, 71mmTB 09 3.7TL Intake Manifold VSA- DC Sport headers,RT Cat Magnaflow 2.5" exhaust UR Pulley set, Unichip
And I am being conservative so people like you won't say I am exaggerating.

If we go conservative from 220 at the wheels I come up with:
220
20 + Headers
10 + Unichip
7 + spacer/thermal gaskets
10 + CAI/bored tb
10 + 09 intake

277

Im fighting some other issues with my car right now. Its been off the road for the past three days. For me, when things go bad, they go real bad. Im battling CELs and yesturday I got a flat and a bent rim. Go me.

Im waiting for package to arrive for work then I have to go work on some servers
