That sucks, I feel your pain especially the rim. Remember I bent two right after doing the mod?

I have a new rim in back & the cracked one that I had fixed in front. There is a slight vibration so I figured I'd swap the rims front to back, couldn't get the new one off the back it was somehow stuck to the hub, Discount Tire who put it on needs to get it the hell off when I have time to take it to them.

I dont have any vibrations yet. We'll see. The car always acts up whenever I look at another car. Ive always had that sort of luck. I took a look at an 07 TL-S this past weekend, but found out it was an auto, so I walked away. I swear my car has feelings.

Shitty news man, your new rims too!

I'm back and forth on this mod...to do it or not. I don't know much about car wiring.

Edit...666th post, weird. Omen?

Oooof.

I just realized Ive got over 2000. Wooohooo!

I just got the valve stem replaced on that wheel, so hopefully its the stem that leaking and not the wheel itself. The bend isnt horrible, but I notice it so it bothers me.

The shittiest part about the car is that Honda doesnt have any of the parts on hand. They should be in tomorrow, otherwise I have to wait until next week. Luckily Ive got the bike to ride around for work, but my shoulders and legs are killing me. I need a day off.

I still need to get a real catch can. Im using the air compressor filter as a catch can. It works pretty well honestly.

And before anyone asks, its not the cause of my previous vacuum leaks. I tested it without it on.

Which reminds me, I put everything back to stock on the car, and three days later I got a P0505 CEL, Idle Control System. The IACV is brand f*cking new. Im now hearing another vacuum leak, and Im getting a surging idle when I hit the gas in neutral. So Im getting rid of the thermo-gaskets and going back to stock, and Im even replacing the gaskets on the lower intake manifold even though I didnt take them off. Something in that area is leaking, and Im determined to find it.

I wouldn't bother with the runner gaskets unless you unbolted them.

Check the plenum lid metal gasket. It can go on 2 ways, one of which will cause issues.

Its not the lid. The leak is coming from underneath the manifold in the vacinity of the lower manifold. Later today Im going to play around with it and try to get everything running right. I heard this noise on both the TL and the stock manifold. It just took a day or two for it to become noticeable.

maybe? the spacer is 1.8" high. what's the height difference of the new manifold? the 3g TL guys got it to fit with minimal work. i'm kinda pissed, i had 2, and sold them both. now they are on backorder. after looking at it, i believe it would fit my 3.7L now, but oh well. i went a different route.

OMG you guys are sick major props.
I can't believe I just stumbled upon this thread. Iono i may have missed it but does this work for 02 tls or is just for tlp? and how much exacly it is for the manifold, cause from what i understand its just a plug in-play mod. so are there any other changes that i need to make for this?

tl-p? This is the CL side. Both guys have CL-S engines (J32A2). You have the same engine as them if you have a TL-S. All other info you asked is in the thread. Just read

btw i still think someone should do that RL exhaust mod ... specially someone with a hi flow cat think itll fix the low end torque loss

i am sorry if the questions are stupid i am just a little confused

My car is auto, it has been great for well over 2500 miles. You do not have to change anything but the manifold, all of these mods are optional & cumulative.

Maybe... but they didn't carry the system over to the 3.7L exhaust. Maybe they did something different with the motor that made up for low end. I think the best kind of exhaust would be running dual pipes off the headers into an X-pipe.

civic - have you figured out the leak?

Im making progress, albeit slowly.

I ran through the troubleshooting guidelines in the shop manual and there is no vacuum leak. It all lies in the IACV. If I block off the port the car will idle and rev perfectly. Its not the throttle body as Ive swapped it out with my old one, and its [probably] not the IACV itself as this is the second brand new one.

I had my old IACV that I bolted up it to the motor and plugged the new IACV into the harness just to see what its reaction was. The IACV didnt spin at all. There is a slight crack that is letting the air pass by. I am leaning towards something electrical, but I am not that good when it comes to wiring, but I did try. Ive checked for battery voltage in the #2 connection of the IACV plug and got it (12v). I checked for continuity on the #3 connection and got it. I went to the E plug on the ECU and ran both tests on the #23 pin and everything checked out. Id like to find a 6MT ecu locally that I can borrow for an hour or so to see if maybe thats it. I dont think my wiring is FUBAR'd. The last step in the manual is to substitue the ecu with a known working one, so thats what Id like to do.

Right now I disassembled my old IACV and plugged the motor/sensor into the harness and tucked it away. I locked the valve itself in the closed position and bolted it up. The car runs perfectly right now. I dont have a single issue, no CEL or surge. The only time the idle acts funny is when the car is stopped and the A/C is on (it drops about 50rpms). Other then that the car is perfectly fine.

I havent driven the car since last tuesday, and it felt great. I have been driving an 08 Accord 6MT around for the past week. That car is fast. Chirping the tires and seeing the TCS light go crazy during at 2-3 shift at 65mph is definately fun (I hadnt set the TCS off as it was an impromptu romping ). As fun as the Accord was though, I really missed my car. My car handles better and honestly sounds better (I hit the rev limiter once or twice because I cant hear the damn exhaust in the Accord, even with the windows open). IIRC the Accord has 3 cats, 2 resonators along with the 2 mufflers

Even though the Accord and CL weigh the same (3446lbs) my CL feels lighter. Mainly because of the suspension. I almost ran off the road in the CL today because the turn in was much sharper then the Accord

Hopefully I can actually fix the IACV issue and not leave my ghetto rigged solution in there for much longer.

Glad you are making progress.

As far as loss of torque I don't see it. My car is quicker in all ranges and has mush more low end than before. Maybe it is my catback 2.5 exhaust & Magnaflows?

Yea, now that the car is running as close to perfect as possible right now the manifold swap seems more and more worth it. I did a 1st and 2nd pull this morning and the car feels just as fast as the Accord now. The ECU is still learning all the parameters again (I reset it yesturday). I cant wait to get my full exhaust done and possibly new headers. I just need to see dyno numbers for the headers before I commit. I may get the car dyno'd tomorrow to see what the gains were. My ass says its in the 10-15whp range.

Once I get the after dyno everything will be up. It really is a straight foward install, but Ill post pointers and everything. I just have to go through my pics and figure out what I want to use.

Its on and no codes or idle issues. I still have the IACV blocked off without any problems. The car is faster then it was the first time I put it on.

I raced my brothers 08 Accord 6MT last night on the highway. It was an impromtu race and he started it. I dont know what gear he was in for sure, but the way he took off it looked like he was in 4th. I dropped it to 4th as well doing about 70mph (he had to be doing 80-85 by this time), and I caught him when I hit 5th doing about 120-125. He said he was doing about 115 when I passed him.

Its like a whole new car. I too feel like I gained some TQ down low. Its a bit more jumpy. Im going to start looking around at aftermarket TB makers to see if anyone makes something that will bolt up. Im looking for an 80mm TB. The ported one I have is 70mm at the inlet and 67 at the outlet. It doesnt exactly take advantage of the manifold bore. We'll see what I find.

My car is begging for an exhaust. My 2.5" cat should be in sometime this week and I will be ordering the piping soon. Im shooting for 250whp at this stage. Hopefully that can hold me over until spring.

I used to dissagree with that sentiment, but its 100% true

I have an idea as to what my next step is with the motor. I just need to figure out what method I want to use. I wont stop till I reach the goal that I have set though.

as for TB check out Wilson or JG ,Skunk 2..the list can go on..but i only use Wilson...i will be running a 90mm for sure and maybe 105mm depending on how the head flows when i do some porting....as for the exhaust i would hope u would consider going 3"...i had a 2.5" and when i went 3" i gained 9whp...
