Here, where it is as hot as a mo-fo, it can't hurt. No gains can be expected. It is just a peace of mind mod. I like to drive some local canyon roads here in the summertime when it's 110+ and the car always stays cool now. It doesn't really help performance, but it prevents the computer from retarding timing due to engine temp because the engine temps stay below 180f. Install is easy, just be sure to bleed the air out of the cooling system when refilling. The fan switch is $30, the t-stat, is$80, and the radiator cap is $30, all from king motorsports. It really doesn't make any sense unless you are living in a very hot climate or need to control engine-temp carefully - it will probably help for circuit racing under NA conditions if you have it at high RPMS continuously!

The original parts list was incorrect. It should now read:
THERMOSTAT 19301-XGMR-0000 $69.00
FAN SWITCH 37760-XK5-00N0 $45.00
RADIATOR CAP 19045-XGER-0000 $29.00
As for gaining power, no. Will it prevent a loss of power, yes. As shown on a TOV dyno and my last NA dyno it does help to keep the ECT lower.
The drawbacks are decreased heat in the winter, but this is minimal.
