btw the mount should not have to be removed (or bracket), especially if you got a dremal tool, with like a "sanding drum", once the stock manifold is pulled, plug up the exhaust ports with some paper towels (just to keep every thing out possibly); sand/grind a little bit away of the bracket, to clear the new header, and you should be good
x2

grinding bracket not mount will make it fit

So wait, if you do go DC Headers, you WILL need to grind the bracket, or (according to that other thread) you can just remove the mount, install the header, then reinstall the mount?

Curious about this since I was actually pretty close to getting a set of DC Headers.

Yep. I don't trust grinding brackets (well, I don't trust myself doing it), so I had to remove (I loosened it) the bracket, mount the rear header, then put the bracket back on.

fair enough, i guess.....

and as far as what excellerate's mounts is replacing, has nothing to do with that bracket and even then it is like only a one time ordeal even then, if you don't constantly remove your headers (j-pipe maybe... but not the upper part)

I mean, if I saw a pic of how much/where to grind, I would have (trust me, it was a bitch to do the bracket by myself)...but I didn't want to take any chances on grinding too much.

grind a little, test fit, if it goes awesome if not grind a little bit more , and recheck the fit, and repeat as needed

and even then with the headers fitting afterwards, it can't be that much needed, my best guess would be an 1/8" maybe max (and making sure all the grinding has smooth transitions, to not cause a stress riser

BTW you should see my ingall's front adjustable upper arms i had to clearence those quite a bit to make it, so they did not hit the strut tower anymore

My mechanic installed the ebay headers on my friends cls6
And he said he had to grind about 8-10mm off the bracket. Its doable but not for everyone. I would not touch that. I belive there is a picture of this grinded bracket on our forum.

did not realize that much would have to be taken off, so yeah either loosening or removing the bracket would probably be best

Well about the DC headers issue again... is the rear piece going to be rubbing against the mount bracket? In that other thread the guy showed he had a couple scuffs on his set, that I'm assuming came from the bracket. Hate to have it end up causing a fracture or anything in the long run.

Curious about this since I was actually pretty close to getting a set of DC Headers.
The ONLY headers that fit the Manual trans CL were the Comptech and the XS. They had the bend in the header to clear the mount bracket. In order to get any other brand to fit you have to grind away at the mount BRACKET. It doesnt matter what mounts you run, they arent the issue. Again its the bracket. If you have a AUTO trans you have no problems and can just install them (though with the DCs i have installed i had to remove the bracket to get them to go on, then reinstall the mount. They didnt touch the mount at all (and it wouldnt cause wear on any thing if they did as that part of the exhaust is rigid and doenst move, just like the bracket)

The scuffs were due to me trying to install it and it rubbing the mount (reason I kept trying to install was because I thought I was doing something wrong). Once you remove/move the mount, you can slide the header on to the head, and rebolt the mount without problems or rubbing.

Man, I really want to order these mounts, but it doesn't seem like anyone has gotten them yet. I'm hoping that you guys will give your impressions of the mounts when you get them.

The mounts came back from powder coat last week but the powder coater threw them all in a big crate and scratched a bunch of them up. They had to go back out to powder coat so that delayed the shipment a few days. We are expecting the shipment to leave the fabricators by Monday.

Actually, I will too. I'm not trying to win any engine-bay awards. Plus, the scratches can't be THAT bad.
