Question j23 build : internals suggestions CL type S

I have a 03 Acura CL type S 6 speed, and have noticed that I dnt have many choices when it comes to finding parts for my car. Im basically looking for ppls opinions who have rebuilt my engine , about what internals worked out good and the not so good , and I was also wondering if the NSX internals were any stronger or different from then the regular J32A1. Or has any1 had anything for the CL done at hondata. Replys are greatly apreciated

Easiest option would be to go 3.5L.

Keep your J32A2 block and heads, and put in a J35 crankshaft.

For a little more HP, throw in some RL pistons (11 compression ratio vs 10.5 of the J32A2).

No custom modification necessary. You could spend more than that, but I would first get an AEM EMS 2 for engine management if you want to go further.

Good advice thus far.

There are waaaay more options now over the over played 3.5 build IMO. Most important question here are what's the budget and your goals with both power and purpose?

Lol. After calling it quits on buying a used j35a8 block and finding I can buy an all aluminum j37 with spun cast cylinders brand new for less than $750, I'm about make this a reality. Using this block with the 09+ TL heads converted back to the traditional j32a2 rocker arm setup and Richards high lift cams, hello 400bhp!....plus boost.

It's not really considered safe to boost a bored j32a2 block and I do agree with this 100%. But, one thing is for sure is Acura made the walls of that block the strongest AND the thickest out of any block they have made to date. They used centrifugal-spun cast walls which is basically a process that makes for a denser, more uniform strength in the cylinder walls. Instead of the molten iron being pored into a sitting cast, it's poured into one that's spinning very fast. This is turn forces all impurities and air bubbles to the outside of the mold while at the same time, ensuring a the iron is the same thickness and strength 360 degrees around. Past this, compared to a j32a3 (04-06 TL), the j32a2 wall were an entire 1-1.5mm thicker in the thickest areas of the cylinder walls. After I bored my j32a2 block was bored from 89mm to 90mm, it was still thicker than the j32a3 block. I have pictures somewhere of this but they were taken pre-boring.

I'm not saying this means it safe to boost to 10-15psi. I'm just stating the things that I observed. The block I am using us an actual j37 block. Even though the 07+ MDX block still uses centrifugal-spun cast cylinders, they are now aluminum and that sort of scares me. In a brief explanation of the new j37 block, Acura does mention it being stronger than the previous 3.5 MDX blocks if which I've never measured the 06 and under MDX walls before but I'm willing to get they are thinner than the j32a2 walls.
