Lost Key Replacement

Anyone lost their Key and had to buy a replacement. Dealer wants way over $100. Why so expensive. I thought this was before the smart keys with embedded chips?

The have the chip inside. Do you still have an original key? If so you can get a generic key with program for about $30-$40 from where I'm from. If you don't have any more keys then you will have to go through the dealer.

Local lock smith here (DFW) charges ~$45 for their generic key. My local Dealer in Plano charges $27 for an OEM key as long as you have one to copy from.
