Intersted hese calipers from parted RL05 for cls6.

Ok, so I have slowly crept my way to the forum w/no pics and greeting msg . Sorry for that, ok I found someone local who is parting an 05 RL and I want the calipers . These are the pics, they look bad to me. I would eventually want them on my 03cls, but are they worth buying and will I need anything for it, it looks like it is missing pieces. I am not asking what conversion kits will I need, I read other threads. They dont look they can be restored, is there something to look for to check if somethings works? I haven't offered him a price yet.













Saw them an was like.... he had the nerve to ask $400.

u are gonna need a caliper bracket for each side. paul (nva av6) makes them. they are $180-185 and 350z brembo edition rotors. 400 is a bit much. they go for 300. just look around

on the 3rd gen TL side; we have mathematically proved that the 2nd Gen RL calipers will upset Braking Bias.

We have NO REAL WORLD TESTING; but the math proves that you'll stop LONGER with these.

Just a word of caution and might be worthy to check out the claim.

Not worth $400 if you really want RL calipers check out Car-Part.com you probably find a some in better condition for less than what that guy wants. I have done this mod and its a great improvement in stopping power of OEM.

I going to offer him $100 for the pair but are they worth getting period? Would degreasing and pressure cleaning get it looking good and ready?

60-0 stop. and record how far it takes you to stop.
then; some one else that doesnt have this mod do the same.
(cars need to have same tires)

of course, stickier tires will play a far more important role in stopping distances than brakes alone

So what would you swap them with for improvement?.

Its going on a CL, and I'm not just swapping just
the calibers I'm swapping the system front and will have slotted's in the back as well.

right, we have found (by the data Ive given above) that JUST SWAPPING the calipers will mess up brake bias.

Now; I gave the data and its your turn to figure out if this is something for you and your car by researching and finding out the CL's piston sq feet and comparing it to the data above.

Also, I would like to see real world test on this.
to see if in fact the RL calipers do stop shorter than the CL brakes.


Based on the Data above; there isnt a point for us 3G TL guys to do this swap. however, it might be different for you guise.

i have rl brakes up front, i have no abs issues at all,car stops great compared to oem, and im on bigger and heavier than oem rims.......try to get them for 250-300ish........my set up is
rl calipers
slotted rotors
oem pads
19x9 rims with 225-35-19 tires

just dont go out thinking you are ready to do road racing lol

Honestly for me, it was more about a look than hoping to gain improvements in the overall braking performance, however the data provided doesn't sound positive for anyone looking for gains. In a year of having them, no issues that caused any concerns and performance does seem better than stock but I'm low and slow and don't push the car and never had to test it to save myself from an accident luckily. That said, I'm guessing it's probably better than cl but TL maybe not so much? Either way, it does look 1000% better than stock cl and that was my preference.

If you can get them for 1/2 or less than what he's selling them for go for it. You probably will have to rebuild them and you'll probably want to have them powdercoated in your color of choice if you want them to stand out.

try offer him $200 then he may say $300 an you counter with $250. I only paid $250 for mine.

i beat the hell out of my car and track it. i can tell u for a fact that they stop a whole lot better then the oem calipers. ive had no problems with them whats so ever.
