Talking RL BBK project almost ready to go. Need that bracket though.

So im going to be upgrading my brake system. Just found my RL calipers that I took out from a totaled RL at my shop yrs ago. I know that I will need to get the 350z 13" rotors to make it work. Anyway I know that I need to get a bracket made so the caliper can be bolted on. I have a friend that can make it for me but dont really know the fitments for the bracket. Have google and search and all I see is pictures. Anyone have the specs to make this bracket. Here are my calipers that Im thinking of powdercoating or hydro-diping.

ArthurL is a member here who has RL calipers. Maybe he can help get you the measurements.

Yeah you'll probably have to ask him; I'm
Pretty sure he's the only person that makes them.

Well, he's the only person I've ever heard of making them at least.

Yea I already asked him for a price, didnt ask him about the measurements. Not sure if he will give them, he gotta make his money somehow. Not trying to take anything away from his part, but feel like if I have the abbility to make it myself, why not? Btw check soon for my progress thread to be updated with pics of new mods that I will be making. Just dont have any right now.

might or might not be documented.
but its the same process as the fronts.

you take a BBK caliper like for example the STI or EVO rear caliper and head to a machine shop or who ever makes custom brackets.

they use the caliper to measure the mounting holes and make a bracket.

SO the OP has the caliper but no measurments...
DUH! you take the measurements from the caliper itself.
then you will have a TRUE measurement for the bracket and where the mounting holes line up.

Its obvious I could do that, but the calipers were sent to get powdercoated and wont have them back untill nxt wk. I made the thread so if someone had the measurements I could do them this wkend and not waste time. DUH!! Time is precious so I got to take advantage of it. Thansk tho. I can start playing with some carbon fiber this wkend if I cant get the measurements.

^you didnt say that in your original post......

your original post sounded like you have the calipers sitting at home collecting dust and a friend that knows how to make the bracket but doesnt know the measurements.
Hence my answers.

these sentences also convinced me that you still had them at your house/shop or whatever.

but if you dont have the calipers then I can see why you're having the measurement problems

Your correct, didnt really explain correctly. At the time of the post I still had them in my shop. Unexpectedly someone picked them up this morning to get the powdercoated.

No No No!
not REAR RL calipers.

THE RL CALIPERS GO ON THE FRONT!

you take a smaller BBK caliper from like a EVO or an STI.
and you make those custom brackets for those on the rear.

I think the brembo calipers from 1G G35s and 350z would also work, pending a bracket can be made. Lets see if paul can chime in.

My front, back EBC rotors and red stuff pads should be in this week, brackets are already in and the calipers should be coming back form the powdercoater this week as well.

Thanks to ArthurL for the candy teal recommendation

Hmm.. are there any Acura/Honda cars that have 2-piston/4-piston rear calipers? That would be interesting to retrofit on our cars.

JNC is that how yours are going to look? How did you manage to get that "raised" ACURA? Very nice.

Just got my calipers back from powdercoat, now time to rebuilt them and file the raised "ACURA" still waiting for my brackets from NVA-AV6

Your set up looks great! Will love to see the final product on your car! I used to have a set of Brembo BBK but nothing compare to this. Very economical way to go! I wish someone can shed some lights for the 4G TL as well. I would love to have that on my 4G.

You wont be able to run a larger rear rotor without getting rid of the oem parking brake as its a drum setup inside the hub of the rear rotor. you would be stuck with the stock solid rotor. Im not sure any 2-4 piston caliper would fit the solid rear rotor. You would have to ditch the rear drum parking brake and either add a 2nd parking brake caliper like done on the nsx with bbk or ditch it all together
