Install in progress (low CR, boost,IC +)

Hey all,

I always post on V6P, however considering that nobody ever done this, yet parts were used from CLS along with Scalbert's IC + e-Manage kits, I thought you guys would like to hear about it.
Keep in mind this is not my daily driver.

Last Saturday my blown 02 AV6 was towed for major installation.
Here is the list of what's going in

1. J32A2 cyl. heads from 02 CLS with NEW cams and valves
2. J32A2 injector base (lower manifold)
3. J32A2 NEW throttle body bored to 71mm (King Motorsports)
4. J32A2 NEW fuel injectors
5. Mugen t-stat/switch/cap
6. Denso Iridium IK22 plugs
7. 3.3"SC pulley (for now) and existing 3.275"ALT (HBP)
8. Scalbert's Intercooler and e-Manage kits
9. Dr. Evil performance 4AT
10. Custom JE 87mm pistons (9.0:1 CR) + ring set
11. Custom Crower forged rods (86mm stock stroke)
12. J30A1 NEW crankshaft with bearings
13. J30A1 block with extra displacement - custom 87mm cast iron sleeves (stock 86mm)
14. AW headers
13. V6P ground kit
15. Optima battery.

I expect this project to be done by Christmas then street testing (weather permitting) with laptop and probably Zeitronix wideband. After 1000mi break-in I'll be getting a DYNO then custom front driveshaft to hit the track next season (April).

In addition, BFG g-Force T/A DR 225/45/17 fronts (track only) and Rotora BBK coming in March next year.

As far as suspension and rims I'm happy, thus I'll keep 'em:
H&R sport springs
Koni Yellows
Eibach sways
Centerline RPM 17x7 (13.5lbs)
225/45/17 Toyo Proxes 4

Low compression internals will make me more boost friendly for future gains and I will definately get more boost within the CT blower efficiency then who knows maybe custom turbo with extra injectors.

Pics come next.

There is a 3.5L AV6 hybrid + CT blower running on Dr. Evil since I believe October last year. So far so good, however I will report the the results asap

Nice, definetly get rid of the CT charger at some point. Trying to remember what CFM it maxed out at. But I know for sure you'll be able to get more flow out of a turbo setup. Not to mention the 9.0 pistons your going to want more than 7-8lbs of boost the CT charger is going to give you. I'd think you'd want 9lbs+ to really utilize the low compression pistions. Otherwise if you never go that high might as well kept the stockers...

Be interesting to see the #'s you push from that setup. Dropping to a 9.0:1 on a CLS engine would probably put it around 210-220 HP N/A.

Did you match the torque converter lockup rpm to the powerband? ]what stall is it?

Steel crank? is it forged or just the stock one new? (if not that's going to be your weak point)

What are your goals?

Oh, man you HERE

No, no guys. READ! He posted all specs ^ on the first post.

He's got prepped J30A1 block (2002 Accord V6) with extra displacement to be around 3.1L Then got low CR 87mm JE forged pistons (stock is 86mm) and stock size stroke 86mm Crower custom rods. Then he'll add CT supercharger with the same pulleys Scalbert running and IC/e-Manage kits.

Again J30A1 stock block (86mm x 86mm)
HIS block (87mm x 86mm)
J32A2 block (89mm x 86mm)

But, he added j32a2 heads/manifold then will install scalbert's IC to fit then sc + hbp. My guess his power should be over 330WHP + and should break 12s (1/4 mile).

Ya, I can read mr . But it still doesn't answer the questions I asked... maybe your statement was directed towards some other people.

I changed my post while you were quoting me. I did realize that was a bit harsh, unfortunetly it as after I posted it...

Nice. I agree with the SiGG meister though, Turbo setup would give you more than the CT S/C. Much luck with it

What are your goals?
Eventually I'll max out the MP60 blower considering the efficiency with smaller pulley with 10#+ or so. Custom turbo might be future, well unless I'd have somehow to modify MP90 with I believe 15# max . I guess once numbers realized the path will be clear

Yep TC matched . Also, it has stock stall speed (1500-1600RPM). Originally Dr. Evil installed 2300RPM stall on the first tranny and had negative response that convinced them to come back to stock. As far as performance, as I mentioned there is the guy named TAG with hybrid 3.5 Oddy block and CLS heads + blower installed in his 01 AV6 who recently dyno out of curiosity before completely tuning with e-Manage and pulled consistant 308whp+. So tranny is good.

Now, the crank is stock and Honda according to my installer has very strong and decent quality stock crankshaft. Assuming I'm not going over 500whp with this FWD, I believe less then 500whp someday will satisfy my needs.

The sleeves are done and installed by company called 'Land Air' at Arlington Heights, IL. JE piston with rings was supplied for all procedures by my installer.

I expect at least 340whp on the first dyno (after break-in). As far as track I have to be in 12s on DR plus my car will weigh no more then 3100lbs. The LSD and performance output on Dr. Evil should also help.

I expect nothing but the best, especially knowing my installer experience. The very same shop who successfully finished already mentioned 3.5L block+3.2heads+blower (~6#) on another 01 AV6 with Dr. Evil besides numerous swaps on Civics.

Scalbert with a completely stock J32A2 did what your shooting for same with allmotor... why did you partially upgrade the engine if your not going to push past what has already been accomplished with the stock internals?

just curious... i assume relability. But no-one I know with the CLS engine and FI has had any problems, including the 2 turbo'd ones. Well, that I am aware of anyway...

I make nearly that much on the stock block and 5AT with the blower. What are his torque numbers? How much boost?

I truly want over 450WHP eventually but no more then 500WHP since it would be pointless on FWD IMO . I dont think anyone running those numbers here on stock internals.

Maybe I was not clear enough, however I experience detonation and fryed my 2 pistons (0 and 30% compression) by running too lean with no IC available then and no fuel management, thus the whole fuzz has started going with forged internals instead of getting the new stockers then getting IC + e-Manage, and finally performance tranny.

His 308whp+ on 5.5psi should not serve as an example yet since no fuel management has been done. As far as torque, I'm sure it decent, however he didn't post actual dyno graph yet but will as soon as he fix the fuel issues to compare the gain.

BTW, mrsteve I'm surprised you running on stock autotragic. No bad signs?
I had slipped only once with 6psi and custom exhaust, then when I put the stock back on it was fine. You won't experience more power without tranny upgrade.

I'll have the intercooler kit installed by the end of the year, so yes I will be experiencing more power

The transmission is covered under warranty. So if it goes, it goes; oh well. No expense to me. I'd like to upgrade the transmission in the future, but options are limited and since i'm still under warranty, spending the money on a new transmission doesn't seem like the best investment until the 100k mile mark hits. No problems with the transmission slipping so far. I take it really easy on the transmission during every day driving: no hard downshifts under WOT, etc.

I agree you'll need more boost than what the Comptech blower puts out to take advantage of the lower CR. Remember we run 10.5:1 in our stock blocks and no one has had issues, and none are really anticipated because our fuel delivery and timing retard is more than adequate for the set up @ 7-9psi.

You could always just set up a 50 shot of nitrous via a fogger system in the intercooler to make up for the lower CR though

I'll do step by step, but most important I'll be ready for MP90 with my low CR or who knows maybe turbo down the road.

And I'll consider 50shot wet kit as a last resource.

Yep, those numbers look about right.

The car is looking great. I hope you got my weighted letter and the shop is pretty clear about the installation??
