header exhaust

i am getting alphawerks header in the next few days, and i am wondering if i need a complete new exhaust installed along with the header? I have heard from my friend that if you are putting a a new header in, a new exhaust system will be needed as well for some air flow reason?? if not, i will just have the header installed first, and then worry about the exhaust system later on. Thanks in advance.

i searched, but didnt find the answer i am looking for exactly.

You dont really need a new exhaust system to go along with you headers. Do you have a Type-S? Type-s exhaust systems are pretty free flow. I would recommend a new exhaust system if you had the premium. I heard headers make a world of difference alone, have fun driving....

a whole neew exhaust system only adds like 5-8 hp and will cost from $600-1000 for a new cat back systems. Headers are supposed to add around 20 hp

If it was better than 90% of the other places you called... why didn't you buy from one of the places in the remaining 10% that had a better price

Ebay Headers

I see there are some very affordable Headers for the AT CLs out there on Ebay. Many are $200 to $300.

I would have a shop install them if purchased.

Any reccomendations??

I just had the Alphawerks headers installed on Monday here in Boston for $150, and there are no leaks or resonance. $400 for the install seems like a rip off.

I ended up switching to comptech headers, its real nice... and i love the sound from the b-pipe as well... aw headers are good too, and I got my aw from excelerate... but I heard there's been problem with the new batch, good luck with it though...

I tried both, I feel the gain for both are similar... and i installed mine myself because all the places I called were asking for 300 or more...
