Unfortunately I do not see a way to do this with just the e-Manage. But maybe in conjunction with auxiliary electronics though.

well i didnt think the emange nessecarily could handle the line pressure /shift point changes...but could it be toggled between af/timing parameters via the SS/auto switch in the shifter?

Not really, the maps are only 2D. 3D maps would really be needed for the shifter mode input.

is the aem unit 3d? would it come with harnesses? and since we might know the map from experimentation with the emanage/unichip might that be translated directly to the aem ?

What AEM unit, the EMS?? It is vehicle specific and not available for any V6 Honda/Acura engines.

according to my conversation with AEM tech ,it's vehical specific to a point ,they felt there was a unit that would work but the maps would have to be created manually from scratch

Devin, at Payne Tech, is running the AEM EMS on his blown NSX. As you said, he started from scratch, and has put endless hours into it, which could benifit others interested in this, on our aplication. He may be the only one in the country running it on a V6 Acura. They will set you up if you want, but you won't like it up here right now,...temps in the mid teens, snowing and blowing like a beotch!

True, it could be done if time was taken.

But remember, the EMS is not a piggy back unit which you are altering the factory controls. This is a stand alone ECU which replaces the factory ECU. As such it would be a problem with the 5AT CL/TL as the factory ECU controls the transaxle and requires many of the same inputs.

You could potentially run the factory ECU and the EMS in the 5AT with some sophisticated wiring and new sensors but it might be more than it is worth.

The e-Manage should do 95% of what we need at a fraction of the cost to implement the EMS.

If I use the straight-thru harness made for the Auto CL-S... will the two plugs that are required... fit?

No, the 5AT uses different connectors. Well actually, just one of the relevant ones is different. But that removes the possibility of using it.

I have now sourced the connectors but I still have minimums of ten pieces. In all, this would cost me about $1000 which I will not do right now. When we get both FI and NA results from the dyno I will try to organize something.

So I guess a standard OBD-II jumper-set won't work?!? I believe there is a version A and version B.... make any sense?

Nope, none are for the new AV6 6-Speed and that is the problem. All are trying to get parts but just as I have found there are minimums and long lead times.

The 5AT has a 25P connector; the 6-Speed has a 24P connector.

Hmm... what about the RSX?

I guess with the AV6 and the new TL... it is bound to come out!

Correct, FROG looked into it for me and found the same long lead times and quatities. They did say that the new 6-Speed Accord uses the 24P connector and may have identical pin outs where related.

So yes, it will be availble but when I don't know. I do know that if after the e-Manage dyno and it is proven out I wIll provide the complete PnP harnesses if desired.

Hey Brad, any chance I can use your e-Manage?? Just trying to make things a bit easier for the testing since we will also be installing and testing on an '01 AV6.

Also, is it OK for me to hardwire the e-Manage leads into your harness?? I'd prefer soldered and heat shrinked connections?? Lastly, do you want me to extend it similar to what I did on mine?? That way you would have some freedom on placement since the under dash location was a bit cramped.

Just let me know.

One other thing and FYI. TAG over at V6Performance is ordering the e-Manage and sending me his harnesses to wire up. He will then be heading to the dyno for tuning on his 8 PSI AV6. So we will have some other information from a blown AV6 as well.

So in all we should have numbers for a blown AV6, CL-S, TL-S and NA AV6 and a TL-S. That should cover a wide range and provide a good indication of the potential.

Yes, I'll ship the E-Manage tomorrow, if they will take it, or Monday if need be,......and, yes on the hardwire, and extend it like yours also,... thank you!!!

Is the "A" in AV6 mean it's an automatic, and are their ECU connectors, and pin outs, the same as ours?

Of course the full potential will not be realized until your other project is done.

Monday is fine, no big rush (well sort of ).

I'll hardwire, extend to about two feet (too allow it to fit in the glove box) and do a voltage drop test.

The AV6 = Accord V6 with the J30A motor. The ECU pin outs, where related, are identical to the 5AT connections.

Yea, it'll be nice to see what occurs with the IC. I am also very curious what the NA gains will be.

Yes, prior to the current generation Accords, all V6 models were automatics.

It is available for our car. It just needs to be hard wired, installed and tuned. It is a generic unit for a specific application.

Yes, I would suggest wiring it to a straight through harness though since there are twenty eight leads which would be difficult to wire under the dash.

Just FYI, I would wait a few weeks. We should have maps done which could save you the $$ on tuning.

I'm waiting on the dyno schedule. I need a Saturday morning and maybe into the afternoon to get this going. We'll be doing three cars; my blown 6-Speed, a TL-S with the basic bolt-ons and an AV6. That should be enough to give a good indication.

I spoke to the shop owner last Friday and he was going to check on open Saturday slots which are often difficult to come by. I was wanting the 31st or 7th so it is just around the corner.

I have also sourced everything needed to get PnP harnesses for this system. So once the gains are shown, it will be available.

What sucks is the $500+ I am sure I will incur for the multiple dyno sessions including tuning with a wide band monitor. My wife is not going to be happy about that when my car is only a small portion of it. :o

Maybe we can reimburse you. You've done so much for this board that it would only be fair.

January 31 (Superbowl weekend) is out for me entirely...So is Valentine's weekend...

I can do Feb 7th or that of Feb 21st, but I do need a heads up soon or I'll get roped into babysitting my godchild the weekend of Feb 7...
And scalbert, I planned to pay for my own dyno runs (before and after tuning time) so I'm simply trusting you to work out a good deal...

I'll try and lock down the 7th then and will drop you a note to confirm in the next day or two.

Thanks, that will definitely help out on the costs.

Finally, we have a date set; Saturday February 7th at 8:00 AM. Actually, I'll be there at 8:00 AM but it is not necessary for others to be there that early but not too much later.

Here is the URL to DynoLab, they just down the road from the Big Chicken:

Only 37.02 miles from the hacienda...

Okay, I'm coming in very late Friday night (leaving after work--around 6pm) and will be there bright and early (parental units get up at 5am anyway) Saturday morning. I might even install my sways early that morning if I can't sleep (yup, finally bought some more). I assume you are doing all the wiring for my car at Dynolab itself...

You can pm me if you need anything else, call 904-228-2733 or even email maliszec@msagroup.com (rest of you freaks leave me alone).
