AcuraSpook's Build Thread.
Thanks for the warning. I wonder whay that would be.
Thank you CLSspeedx!
Right not this thread will probably be dying off for awhile as I just has the money to buy the ATLP exhaust when the GB comes through but thats it. Next time this thread will be booming is after taxes, then I will be going a little wild on the spending again. If I had access to few grand I already know what I would do but real life doesn't work like that haha.
To summarize so far:
Injen Intake- Purcahsed and installed.
UR Pulleys- Ordered
Comptech Header- Ordered
Apexi Neo+ Harness- Purchased, Waiting for spring
Tune- Same as Neo!
SSR Type C 18"- Purchased, Waiting for tires in the spring
RL Caliper conversion brackets- Ordered
Eibach Pro Springs- Paid for, awaiting shipping from BM
NGK Laser Iridium- Purchased, Waiting for install
Timing Belt+Valve Service- This week hopefully
Rust Removal/Fresh Paint- Probably September, (When ever my buddy can do it )
SOON:
ATLP Exhaust (waiting on GB, $ set aside)
XLR8 High FLow Cat (Last thing I'm ordering this summer)
Next Time I Get Money (Fall and then Taxes)
Toyo Proxes or Kumho Excsta
RL Calipers
SS XLR8 Brake Lines
EBC Red Stuff + 350z Black Coated Slotted Rotors
Tokico Illuminas
Progress RSB + Endlinks
Clutchmasters Kit (FW+Plate+Disc)
SS Clutch line+ Shifter Bushing
A Diet!
Someday:
3.5l Build... I just prefer N/A.
Oddy Crank+ RL Pistons for 3.5 @ 11.0:1 Compression
Probably going to do Bisimoto Level 1 Cam+ Valvetrain upgrade too
AEM EMS (I believe the tuning is the most essential and important part, plus 2 stage launch will help lauch a fast FF car much better)

Thanks guys. I try to be tasteful and diligent with my car modding. (I know you probably all suspected rice when you first saw me paint the stockies bronze, but I was just having fun.)
I don't even want to think about what I have spent so far haha. I just sold off my 96 accord with 4,000$ in after market stuff for a stupid 1300$ because there just isn't a used car market right now. (Plus it was so far away from passing any inspection ever again I had to sell it as an off-road only vehicle)
Oh well almost all I have done up to this point has been selling off old crap on Ebay and turning those funds around on the car (I kinda feel like if I didn't have the money . Coming up though it will start coming out of my pocket and hence things will slow down a lot haha.
Anthracitecl, I just figured I would spend most of the big money early so that later I can resort to just doing a mod here and there time and money permitting. The damn CT header was the biggest cost, but I just wasn't having luck finding used 6speed. I'd rather dump money and do it all right the first time that having to go back and fix stuff later, that can add up too (I learned tat the hard way once upon a few cars ago.)
Thanks for the seat info Civic, looks like I will just have to swap covers.
And to stay on subject, springs shipped today and my UR Pulleys come in the mail today. I have been waiting on them to do the timing belt and water pump and valve train servicing. These two are the only two things that are going on this year out of my list. The CT Header and ATLP exhaust and the SSR Rims and the Apexi Neo and stuff are all for spring. I'm even swapping intake back to stock for winter. Can't do cold air in Buffalo winter! The most important part was getting those little rust spots now before they become irreversible problems. Luckily I am good friend with an excellent body man so that part isn't breaking the bank the way it would for most people. He isn't even charging me for the work because he just loves working on fun cars like this
I got the good end of that deal.

Well it is spring again so I have the modding bug. I haven't been on forever, but nothing has changed on my car except ride height. Last fall I was able to put my eibach springs on. Handles better but mostly notice in the looks department. That car was so tall before. on the lower it only looks as stock should haha.
Anyways here is where I sit right now:

and new wheel color: (Dark Graphite, looks a little goofy in the light)

As you can see from the top pic there I have a lot to do.
Refresher on my current stuff:
Injen Intake
Eibach lowering springs
Mobile 1
New IMRC
Valve tune up @ 155,000 (now at 162,000)
In my pics you can see what is up coming:
Paint/Clearcoat touch up. Was waiting for nice weather!
Water pump/tensioner/belts
New Oil pan + Mobil 1 (My current is plugged with a larger plug, the drain is messed up.)
Transmission Flush (Royal Purple Syncromaxx)
High Flow Cat (Ditching the vibrant and ordering the XLR8 pre-built for ease)
Unorthodox Pulley Set
A'Pexi Neo + Boomslang
Comptech Headers (I was informed by HEEL/TOE I got the last pair ever for our cars, apparently they are done making this product.)
RL Brackets
What is in the mail:
XLR8 High Flow Cat
RL Calipers
EBC Red Stuff
EBC SportMAX Black slotted 13" Nismo Rotors
Yokohama S-Drives
XLR8 Steel Brake Lines
Going to get an alignment and Tranny flush this week.
I think maybe after a tune and stuff I Will not be buying for this car anymore.
Maybe a rear anti roll bar by progress too.
I Love this car but I just think I need something more in line with the G37s.

I try not to play around haha.
I love this car to death, but this is going to be all she gets.
With these parts and money I really will be hitting the wall with what she is capable of.
Already saving up for a G37s... that's the only logical and appealing step up from here for me. I love the luxury spliced with the sport. I just don't find German reliable enough so Japanese Luxury sport is where I am. The g37s is he only car on the horizon now that will be affordable enough, reliable enough, and a big upgrade from the onset from where I am now. Unfortunately Acura has just dropped the ball after the CL, offering no Sporty (Or any!!!) Coupes. Shame.
'For now this is a great car to hop into and drive everyday. I'm hoping the upgrades only serve to 'UP' the fun factor until I move on.
Before new tires/new wheel color

Very funny.
That is a symptom of the shitty camera combining with the terrible overcast that has been in Buffalo all week. Look up a few pictures in the post and you'll see the parts in my house also have a blue tinge. For some reason my new phone takes really, really poor quality shots in anything other than very bright light.
I guess I will have to wait until we get sunlight here before you will be able to better discern the color change.

I did the best I could to get rid of the blue tint, but in doing so, I have to kick the vibrance down a lot.

That bottom picture actually looks correct in terms of the wheel color as it is now, just the rest of the picture is screwed up now. Oh well. My rim colors aren't what is important, rather. That goes to how excellent the new Yokohoma S-Drives on those rims grip. They are a phenomenal tire, and very reasonably priced. Quiet, grippy, nice wet traction, and only 120$ each. I am very happy with how they contribute to the tuna boat's handling.
Yea, I used to have S.Drives. Not bad for the money. Id rank the Ventus V12s above them though, but once you get down to the wear bars, dont bother driving in the rain. There is still plenty of dry grip left in them though.
I will have to try the v12 next time around. Also ordered a progress sway and moog endlinks as well as 75a motor mounts (xlr8) . Brandon is getting me a quote for paint and supplies for the touch up. Last but not least thinking of ordering the heel/toe shift upgrade kit with bushings, short throw and ss Clutch line. But that would have to be it haha.
My guess is that the demand just became too low. It took 3 months to get my pair.... shame one of the few companies that actually had quality parts for our cars has moved on.
I noticed the CT swaybar and springs are discontinued on Heel/Toe.
I guess I lucked out on the headers.

The heads on them are so big they knock against my lower end of my coilovers.
Thanks for the heads up! I have OE Struts with the Eibach springs so I am hoping there won't be any knocking.
Also has anyone here replaced their fuel filter/pump? I have had a few longer starts recently and some slight stutters during revs that seem to me like they are symptoms of lowered fuel pressure....
Has anyone else experienced this?

OEM struts clear no problem.
It's just when you get into the struts and coilovers that have a thick body.
Mine are nex so stay away from those in the future if your running the moogs.

Excellent. I am glad that the links will work for my applications. I really don't for-see any more upgrades after this summer. I can't pretend like this is for sure the end, but I cant imagine going any further with this platform.
P.s. Congratulations richardparker on the 3.7 build. What did you do if I might ask?

P&P everything,3.7 crank,rods and pistons.
08 tls hollow cams
Underdrive pulley set, full exhaust, valve springs-ti seats and retainers.
bigger fuel pump,adjustable fuel reg.
manifold is at the shop getting 1/2" plenum spacers made and adapting a 90mm TB.
If my clp manifold horns fit they will be going on the manifold since they are a little longer(for more low end torque).
I have a rpm switch opening up my manifold secondary's 100 rpm latter than stock.
I am ordering 4" intake piping and filter tonight.
aem wide band gauge mounted but sensor not mounted yet.
I Also have custom cams in the box, that I will be getting to very soon.
I am in need of injectors and management.

Can you re-bore the j32a2 block or do you need to get new sleeves?
You can bore the block. The 3.7l requires a 1mm overbore, a 3.5/6l does not.
The 3.7l is the largest you can go without sleeving the block, as the 90mm bore is the service limit (the A2 bore is 89mm).

While if I wanted to do 3.5l on a budget, and tight schedule, would simply swapping cranks and new rings theoretically (Meaning no glaring compression issues) get me rolling and restore compression to like new levels, or to get compression like new would that mean new pistons and rings and a bore?
I am sorry if this is nubile, but I have never service anything below the head on a car before. The block is all new territory for me...

Never mind I talked to my dad (Honda-tech) and he said he would help me reassemble everything. So no labor costs.
Going to do the j35a4 Block with the RL pistons, and type S heads.
I noticed the Rl pistons can be ordered with .25mm Overbore... so after honing the j35a4 block out that will be sure to return me to a "new" motor.
