03 type S intermittent starting/idling trouble

New car, 150k miles 6 speed. For about a week I didn’t have the issue, then one day I was starting the car, 3rd or 4th time I started it that day, and for some reason it cranked for an extra long time, struggled to start, then once it started it blubbered too life, rough sporadic idle, lasted about 15 seconds, car drove fine. That whole day it struggled to start, took a couple tries sometimes. Next day had no trouble, till about a week or so later (now). I’ve started the car maybe 5-6 times today and it progressively gets worse as the day goes. Same symptoms.

just did coils and spark plugs. Anyone have any ideas? Should I clean the EGr valve? I didn’t think it was the starter because the car turns over and cranks fine, and usually starts perfectly fine most the time.

Read over the thread below, note any similar symptoms you may be experiencing, it may be of some help if the relay has not already been replaced.
I had to replace the fuel main relay on both my automatic and CL-S6.

If you give it a go, make sure to get an OEM one. Sometimes you can get OEM off ebay for cheap. Just make sure it's not a look a like foreign 'knock-off' and the vendor is Acura / Honda. Best results are achieved by searching on the part #.
This thread gives a good idea as to where it is located.

Thanks I’ll look at that thread. Strong possibility it’s a relay because I bought the car missing the trim under the steering wheel (I think that might imply previous owner did work down there). I jiggled the relays around but didn’t replace them. I thought because the issue is only on warm starts and it’s intermittent, it wouldn’t be that, but I should just replace it to be safe

I have a 2003 CLS6. I've had this problem too. I think what happens is if the fuel gets hot, some of it evaporates within the fuel line, causing a vapor lock situation until it cools down enough between starts. Haven't figured out a fix yet, other than not to let it idle ini parking lots after long drives on hot days. Good luck and let me know if you find a solution that works!

@Acura TL Builder
The OP to this thread has a 'build' going on over at:

Just curious, are you familiar with that outfit near you in WA?
If so, maybe you've seen / heard about OP's build?

Denso coils and spark plugs, got every fluid refreshed and filled when I bought it. I even run premium 92 ethanol free gas. Recently though I haven’t had the problem, probably for at least a few weeks

Yep that’s them, they always have a few NSXs on the lot and their primary build is the black NSX with purple wheels. Runs 10s with plenty of kinks to still work out. Once I can figure out how to post videos I have some from their garage
