Anyone have any ideas?
Anyone have any ideas?
Last week I brought my TSX in for my 20,000 service. Since then I have been having this weird thump noise when I drop my manual into 2nd gear. I also am have a very pronounced thudding noise on my driver side when I'm going over bumps...it sounds like it's from the front wheel area but could be the rear wheel area. I don’t get the thump when my right side tires go over a bump though, only the left. Also, when I brake now it's kind of like a long drawn out ABS type feel where it almost hesitates, but not nearly as fast as ABS...I'm bringing it back to the dealer tomorrow. I’d like to walk in there a little more informed. For the 20,000 mile service they do a brake inspection and rotate the tires, so I wondering if they didn’t put everything back together tight enough. They said the brakes were in great condition, so I'm kind of clueless...any ideas?
Well, as of now they could only identify the brake issue, the rotors are warped. The dealer is going to give me brand new rotors and pads at no cost, which I would expect considering I'm still under warranty. I was impressed though, they gave no fight and were very pleasant about it. I’m still curious as to why they didn’t catch it during the brake inspection, or if they did something to cause it to happen in the past week.
Another interesting thing happened to me on the way to work the day I brought it to the dealership, I had my car inspected as I entered the Navy base I'm stationed at. When I closed the hood the chrome piece of the grill attached to the hood cracked. I can't tell you how pissed I was! I pointed it out to the dealer and he explained that he wasn't supposed to cover it under warranty, but would anyway. So I'm especially pleased with that
As for the thudding sound, they can't find that, so when I bring the car in Tuesday to get the new brakes, they are going to troubleshoot it all day and see what they get.
I guess we’ll see what they find.

I was surprised they were so willing to do it too
So what's the deal with the brakes anyway? I live by the word of Honda, but these brakes are killing me...I'm not down with Honda making me have wandering eyes for other cars...shame shame Honda.:'(

It's a Honda brake issue. Taking your car in for scheduled maint. is a good thing, but if your car comes out doing something wrong, and you have the opportunity under warranty to take it back, then do so and be happy it won't cost anything. So many people are having this problem, just get it fixed. They shouldn't argue with you about the problem, no reason to never go back. Be happy it's doing it now and not when the warranty expires. Taking it to a Honda dealership might actually cost you money to find out something will be covered under warranty.
