Replacement O2 sensor?

I'm scanning the net for parts (work hobby) and I came across this:

http://www.car-stuff.com/mmparts/acu...en_sensor.html

I had heard Bosch makes replacement sensors, but other than breaking one (Colts), why would you move to aftermarket? Also I'm wondering what the deal is with the generic looking $30 O2 sensor. Thoughts?

Aftermarket O2 sensor is usually cheaper than OEM. However, you have to make sure they are compatible. The TSX primary O2 sensor is a wideband sensor whereas most O2 sensors are not. The same site in your link also has a 1, 2- wires O2 sensors for the TSX which definitely will not work.

Other O2 sensors

I forget how many wires ours is. It might be 4, but I'm not 100%.

You can reach the O2 sensor harness from the engine bay. Just look for a blue wiring running up from your header apipe. Check how many wires it has.

So, just out of curiosity, how much does a replacement sensor for our TSX run?

Looks like my O2 sensor is shot. I'm trying to figure out replacement options at the moment. Besides the $200 one directly from the dealer, are their any aftermarket ones that I can use? I would just cut the wiring off my current O2 harness and just solder up the new sensor to my old wiring harness.

Has anyone found any options?

Thanks!

Johnny, would the 4 wire sensor in the link above work for our car? I called the website to verify that it was a wideband O2 sensor. The answer I got was that it was, but the tech didn't sound too sure, and I have my doubts.

which o2 sensor is shot. the one in the cat or the one in the header. mine was the one in the header. the oem one for the cat I believe is considerably less than 200.

Replaced mine for 240. It was the air and fuel ratio sensor.

I would use OEM wideband sensor to be safe, and avoid wasting money on something that might not work. Wideband sensor costs more money. You can try the non-OEM sensor but ask about the return policy.

I can get a wideband o2 sensor from an 05 Type S for around $80 shipped. Any idea if that would work? Thinking about just cutting the wires and splicing into the TSX's O2 sensor harness.

I'm still strongly learning towards OEM though. I'll probably just bite the bullet.

Going to meeting up with Imaginary17 this weekend to swap my primary O2 sensor with his and verify that this is my problem. Special thanks to him!

Just found this replacement sensor on Ebay and I think I'm gonna go for it if I need a new one.
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...m=190030722186

The seller will guarantee it for 60 days. I emailed him directly and he says it will work. He has good feedback and sells a lot of of O2 sensors, so I think it's worth the risk. Also, a new one from the dealer is $200 and this one is only $20.

Anyone see any reasons why this wouldn't work?

It wouldn't work because it's not a wideband sensor. Denso doesn't even make an O2 sensor for the TSX. The one on ebay is for non-wideband applications.

What do you mean by test? If you are looking for a replacement, then use OEM.

You might even be able to get the dealer to replace it under warranty if they are cool. Is yours messed up |crazyazn|?

You could have reinstalled the stock cat before bringing it in.

i wish but the highflow cat is welded to the pipe since it fixed the gap after the headers install.

There was a post a bit back when I installed the cusco bar that they extended the exhaust system back so my tips stick out now rather then hide.

They welded your hi flow cat directly to the header? There's no flange between the header and cat anymore?

No they reused the flange for no leaks but weld the magnaflow cat to the end of where the orginal cat is supposed to be.

General question about the primary O2 sensor....how long is it's life? (I read someone say about 50K) I'm at 58K, and I'm throwing a CEL, which I think the sensor is the problem due to some lagging throttle response.

Average life is probably about 50-60,000 miles, but can vary greatly.

Go see someone with an ODBII code reader and pull the code(s) for the CEL. Then search the Net for "Honda CEL codes" and look for your code. Or look in the Helm's manual if you have one.

I had a p 0138 and a p 0137
Low and high voltage on circuit
bank 1 sensor 2 i think.

So we swapped the 02 sensor on the cat and it looked old pretty much.
i'm at 50k now.
