a possible solution for nag screen removal

ok, so the navigation requires you to hit ok or push on the joystick to continue right? it seems like no one is able to hack the software, so how about hacking it through the joystick. a pulse timer can be use to give the joystick a negative signal 6 or 7 seconds after the car is started. that is how is done on the infinitis. i took apart the unit today and took pictures of the joystick. now what we need is to know which wire of the joystick to use. i know this is a pain in the ass to do, but i think it can be done. i didn't have the time nor the equipment to try it, but maybe someone in this forum can look into this. here are the pictures of the joystick.

There's more than one way to skin a cat.

Software certainly would be more elegant but your idea will work too.

Good idea man! In theory, sounds like it would work.

Get out your voltmeter and figure out which wire it is!

One of the tricky things you're going to run into is to find something that will pulse only once and only when the ignition is first turned on. You don't want something that is continuously pulsing. It would make it look like you were repeatedly pushing the joystick and make your navi go crazy.

the problem is that you have to take apart half of the unit to get to the wires of the joystick. so using using a voltmeter probally won't work because everything will be unplug. i guess the only way is to tap into all the wires at the joystick and extend and put everything back to its orginal stage then test using those wires you extend from the joystick.

for the pulse timer, i think a DEI 528T will work for this application.

Sounds like a solid plan. Extend the wires, and then look into the DEI 528T. I would try to get ahold of Elduderino if you need more info about the DEI 528T. He has a lot of knowledge of car alarms modules including writing some of the manuals back in the day.

I don't have factory navi myself, so sorry I can't help man. Sounds like your going in the right direction. Best of luck man!

I think that this thread here tells about how a member has taken off the nag screen with the software.

I agree, the nag screen is a PITA. When it's 90 degrees outside and you get into your car. You have to wait 15 seconds for the nav screen to let you push ok or until it lets you use a voice command to turn the A/C to max.

Can't you just push the ac button to access the climate controls immediately after starting the car. The only thing the nag prevents is the GPS.

Alin, do you realize that the guy who made this thread is the same guy who made the "modify your navi screen" thread you linked to? lol. And no, he hasn't perfected it with software. I tried; it won't let me (and many others) get rid of the nag screen but the background image is easily mutable.

Bysin has been able to remove the text that appears on the Nav screen, but he was not able to completely remove it.
