I tend to keep the engine in the lower rpms while just cruising about town (typically below 3000 rpm). But when I really want to have some fun, I let it rip all the way to the redline.

When I'm putting around I try and shift under 3000. 2300 seems really low but I do this as well sometimes, which is why that thread about shifting into 6th too early and frying the clutch got me a bit worried. But I still think its BS.

I was pretty amazed to find out that the cruising RPMs are only about 2500 for 65-70 mph highway driving. Very smooth.

for the AT yes.

but this thread is for MT only right? unless AT'ers are strictly using the SS which i doubt (in most cases).

Actually, I drive with the SS almost 75% of the time now. I miss MT, so I'm trying to convince my brother to take my car so I can get an S2000.

Yeah, im in Sport Shift mode Religiously...probibly shift around 3 1/2 - 4k for the most part... feel like the TSX dosent hve any pickup in pure AT mode, only really use Automode in bad weather and traffic....my left foots bored too, honestly sport shift w/ a clutch would be sick, just so u have a clutch and everything, but u can like lock down the clutch petal and shift it into purley Automatic mode...

I try to keep the cruising RPM at around 3k. I like to shift at 4-ish.

If I'm driving for fun, I keep it up around 4k, and shift at (are you seriously asking?) 7100.
Why not hit the redline if you're out to have some fun?

don't you have a 5AT? LOL, I love putting it in Neutral and rolling back when stuck up hot shots look at me. It just screams out, "Yeah, I see you holding the brake, Automatic boy!"
Once I tried convincing a girl I took out that I had a clutchless Manual and that nowadays there was no need for a clutch or gear layout, that it was all done by computers. She agreed and asked that I not try that again. Talk about shot down!
