I have this one and it works great.
the guys at the Acura dealership say it's far superior to the stock ones
they put in the new TSX and the MDX and whatnot.

just look up the product number and find the best deal out there.

Pioneer ND-BC2

I had mine cut/molded into the license plate:

but it comes all setup to be used like a normal one would be.
I was afraid of it getting stolen/ripped off, so I made it permanent, lol.
it's adjustable with the bracket that comes with it for mounting.

I bought this one from ebay last year. Very happy with it. It was recommended by other tsx owners too. You can email the seller directly and ask for it.

If you search around, there's also a wiring scheme out there where you can get the camera hooked up for minimal cost (less than $20ish in wires/parts if I remember correctly).

yes, mine is cut into my license plate.
but it's not supposed to be, it's supposed to be mounted with
it's bracket and be adjustable and all of that.
I just did the custom thing on my own.

hook up is simple, requires very little extra to buy.
it plugs into the back of the navi dvd unit in the trunk.
and the power comes from one of the reverse lights.
there is a DIY I'm sure here and also on tsx club.

I think about $10 or less even! I remember buying extra parts in case I screwed it up, and the extras are like 90 cents each for the housing at mouser.com.

Hey, did you screw your camera into the car or did you use automotive tape to keep it in place? I worry about the camera popping off in carwashes!

I wonder if it would be feasible to use the license plate's bolt? Drill a hole through the camera's stand, and put the bolt through the plate, then the stand, then the car? If the bolt is one of those special bolts that you need a tool to un-do (like a special security/hex bolt, or those bolts in public restrooms that tighten but can't be untightened), perhaps the camera can be secured with minimal mods to the car?

I see you did end up screwing it into the trim piece. This worries me, but I think it's the only way to go considering the fact that the automotive tape probably won't hold up to continued car washes. I guess if I sold the car I could buy another painted trim piece from acura, if they make it! Sorry for the thread jack OP.

Do you need the NavTool on an 06 to go with a backup camera?

I made my own harness, it was about $2 in parts and that included extras of everything in case i messed one up.

Although I am not putting in a backup camera, I am rigging a DTV converter box up so I can watch TV on the navi screen

oh yes you do need that for the dvd player...
if you wanted just a reverse cam, you wouldn't need doms nav..

What exactly do you need for just a backup camera if your car has navi?

um... nothing really.
you need what is in the pics below to make it happen usually:

^the camera and what it came with

^the 7 slot little plug that fits into the back of the nav unit

^the little pins that go inside the plug that the wires attach to

^extra RCA plugs to extend the wire, plug and play style, you can just solder though...

^and a bit of extra wire and some solder to make it all happen.

getting some heat shrink isn't a bad idea either to seal it all up real nice.

basically you just need to extend a wire and make a little plug for the end of it.
there is a DIY either on this site or on tsx club that shows exactly what to do.
the little plug you make just plugs into the back of the DVD unit in the trunk.
and the power comes from one of the reverse light wires. really, really simple install.

DTV as in Digital TV. All I did was get a converter box, the ones that you need to see digital TV signals on older TVs. Well they just output a plain analog signal over the composite output. Plug that into the harness that I made that is mentioned in this thread, and volia, TV on the navi.

Audio is easy with the 06+ TSX, just use a cable from the RCA audio outputs of the DTV box to the AUX input under the armrest. I got a silent small 75W power inverter that I plug the box into(which only draws 10W, not much at all)

Too bad the box I have is just a bit too big to fit in the space under the armrest. I'll probably leave it under the passenger seat. As for an antenna, since I live close enough to Philly I just put a 12'' extendable monopole antenna on the back and it works.

Best Buy, walmart, target, etc. Have you not heard the countless commercials on TV about these converter boxes? The Zenith DTT901 is one of the best ones, you'll find if you do a little searching.

Here's my setup.

Camera:

My Navi:

Installed:

In Action:

Very Satisfied with the results as it has form and functionality of the OEM back up camera similar to the 07-08 MDX.

Did you use a rubber grommet where the wire goes in to the car? Obviously you drilled a hole in the plastic piece, but I'm curious if people are making it water tight?

You probably don't need a converter box but a 4PDT relay. Then directly connect DVD video output to the 7pin connector on the Nav unit. The diagram here can help you out.
