Coolant problem

Hey guys,

It was cold this morning in Wisconsin. Probably about 18 degrees and when I started my car coolant started leaking underneath. Not much ran out, probably a little puddle about the size of a half a dollar. Anyone know where it could be coming from?

A few weeks ago as I pulled into a parking structure, I saw some steam coming from underneath the hood. Nothing major but something. It was moist that day. I checked the coolant the next day and all fluids and everything was good.

Anyone have any idea what is going on? Anything like this happen to anyone before?

Thanks in advance Azine!

check color of fluid on engine oil dipstick- check rad and overflow bottle- make sure the hose inside the res cap is connected or fluid wont transfer
Get a pressure tester (loaner tool) from parts store and pressure test the system
The water pump has a small ~weep hole~ on its lower side to allow coolant escape when inner oring seal fails

Check your hose between the engine and the heater core.
I had the same thing and took me a while to find the source. The screw type hose clamp was loose.

It's right below the oil filter, I have a 2.5 TL.

I just don't think that it would be a hose or a leak because it just happened once and it stopped after about 30 seconds.

Could it be this?

Borrow the cold pressure test tool from ORiellys or Autozone and pressurize cold cooling system to look for leak. Hose is most likely but this test should find the source.

good luck

Well it happened again this morning. I think it's coming from the waterpump because it's def not the radiator.

I'm going to look @ a new car today, maybe going to stop these headaches.

new cars spend more time in the shop on stupid warranty stuff than a reliable older TL

but you are getting up there in miles- expect many parts to need replacement soon,
