Yeah, can see how the fastback shape echoes that of a '71 Mach 1, although the latter seems like more of a kammback due to the shallower angle of the rear window.
Not saying I don't like (or even prefer) the Hakosuka, just that the Kenmeri's nice, too.
Saw the blue stock GT example on BaT this morning, which put me onto it.
I love those cars, but the interior and exterior do not line up. The exterior is muscular, assertive and it makes a statement, while the interior is very subdued. If you told me that’s the interior of a Camry, I would believe it.
Just saw this example today and am really tempted to get it as a DD. Asking price is ~$13k.
Of course, I'd have to go look in person and test drive, but before I spend any time/energy doing so, thought I'd ask, in Jalop's parlance, "Nice price or crack pipe"?
From the listing, the wheels aren't stock (225/55R16), but rather aftermarket 18-inch SSRs which look like they have a much wider tread (235?) and a lower profile (45 or 40?). (I like the stance.)
Anyway, wondering if anyone here on the forum might've had experience with these cars--2nd gen Toyota Aristo S300 Vertex (JZS161)--and/or insights/perspectives to share? TIA
The listing doesn't provide mechanical specs, but this is what I was able to find online:
Weight: 1620 kgs (~3600 lbs.)
Engine code: 2JZ-GE
Comp ratio: 10.5 : 1
Tranny: 4-speed AT,
Factory rated at: 230 ps (227 hp) @ 6k; 304 nm (224 lbs-ft) @ 4k
Fuel tank capacity: ~20 US gallons
Looks like a JDM Lexus GS?
I'd guess the specs would be pretty similar?
Very close: It's a Toyota Aristo, basically the same as the Lexus GS for that year. That 2JZ motor (inline 6) can be tuned for some gains. Here's a similar car:
They go for about $7k-$14K here in good condition and low Km. Vertex refers to the body package that it has (side skirts, front dam, rear valence and/or spoiler, etc.) You would be unique having one. And because it's a Toyota, you know it would last a long time with proper oil changes.
