I was lighting a cigarette with the lighter and when i pushed down and held it all of a sudden all the interior lights and the stereo went off....i checked my fuses and the interior light fuse was blown... this has happend many times since ive owned the car. also the cigarette lighter broke some how and i cant use it with out holding it down? does any one else has or had similar problems?

(when my car was under warranty i replaced the cigarette light piece 2 times cause of this problem, Acura Springfield told me that its because i use a cell phone charger that it broke)

 

I DONT KNOW MUCH ABOUT THAT. BUT I WOULD GO BACK TO DEALER AND SAY.. (YOU DIDNT FIX IT RIGHT) FIX IT AGAIN. I DID THAT WITH THE SLOW WINDOWS AND SCRATCHING.. DEALER FIXED 1ST TIME. THEN STARTED TO SCRATCH/SLOW AGAIN. THEN WARANTY WAS OVER. I TOOK IT BACK AND THEY FIXED IT AGAIN FOR FREE. BCAUSE I KEPT COMPLAINING THAT THEY COULDNT FIX IT RIGHT. FINALY THEY SAID CANT DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT NO MORE (DEALER GAVE UP). FUNNY PART IS THEY JUST KEPT ON GIVING ME NEW WINDOWS. BUT NOT RESOLVING THE SLOW AND THE SCRATCHES.. THEY TOLD ME STRAIGHT UP.. CANT DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT... UPSETTING THAT DEALER GIVES UP..WHO ELSE TO TURN TO?

 

The cigarette lighter hasn't worked since the day I bought the car (5 months).
I have a service due in the next couple of weeks, and I'm gonna make them fix it.

Went camping in July. Had to inflate the airbed. Wound up wandering from one campsite to another trying to convince total strangers to let me use their cigarette lighter. Some of them looked at me like I was insane...

 

yeah same here my cig lighter hasn't worked from the first day i bought the car... i can't find a fuse or nething but i dunno what the hell is wrong with it... there is power going into the harness for the lighter but when i press the lighter in it doesn't light or click back out...

 

Mine's bad also (since I boutght the car last year) The coils on the lighter are bent, and I blew a fuse last year trying to light a j. No radio. Damn. I replaced the fuse, and I carry a zippo now. The socket still works for my cellphone, though.

I REMEMBER MY FRIENDS LIGHTER THING WAS SO OLD AND CRUSTY.. IT WOULDNT WORK.. HE WENT OUT TO GET A NEW ONE... AND IT WORKED.. I NEVER THOUGHT IT WOULDVE.. BUT IT DID..

 

97 3.2TL. I can't imagine it would be a problem with just one model. The interiors are identical, right? If that's the case they'll have the same wiring harnesses, same lighter sockets, same everything. As far as I know the only real difference is the engine, right?

Brand new lighter. When I arrived to pick up the car there was no lighter. Made them put a new one in.

Like I said, both the lighter AND the 12V air pump won't work. Tested it with a DVM. the socket is dead.

Yup we all have this problem. Mine works but you have to hold it in. Dont just press it and let go. Unless its still working okay and stays down by itself. I smoke but never in my car. Sometimes if I dont have a light on me I'll use it outside the car. My g/f laughs at me when I do that and then she gets mad because I smoke in her car but not mine.

 

neone know how i should replace the cig lighter??? should i get one from acura dealer or can i buy one at autozone and if so which one...

I've never had a problem, except one time I plugged in my phone charger and my radio shut off, replaced the fuse, happened again. Took me two days to find the problem....a dime had fallen into the lighter socket and was shirting out as soon as I plugged in the charger!!! Was THAT a ***** to get out, lemme tell ya! But I have never had the cigarette lighter, as mine was a non-smoking car. I didn't smoke in it too much myself before I quit 8 months ago (g/f made me....) I have the same problem with the drivers window AnKiiGrL, any idea how much a new window is, my warranty is WAYY gone and my glass is getting more scratched by the day!!

i know this is a really old thread but if u didn't change ur cig lighter socket i changed mine over the summer.. just go to autozone and fit it in there... it is really simple cause the ground and live wire just plugs into the outlet... and just reuse the factory light...
