New Battery on 08 RDX

My daughter was borrowing the wife RDX to run errands around town (fresh out the Navy after 4yrs, two tours to the gulf on the CVN-72 Abe Lincoln, proud father). When she was about to head home when she stopped at Sonic for a snack, the battery was completely dead with no prior warning when she tried to start the car. After I jumped the RDX, I was going to take it to the local Acura dealership to see if it might still be covered under the standard warranty (51,200 miles on the RDX).

I figured it just wouldn't be worth the effort and just found a local interstate battery installer and put in the 85 month Mega-tron plus 35 for about $115 installed. I thought for a split second about getting the optima as a replacement. The price of one red or yellow top optima would pay for 14 years of the Mega-tron plus 35. I had the tech test the old battery first to make sure it was the problem (the negative post cable was a little loose when I jumped it). The tech said the battery was in the "needs to be replaced" zone.

I've gone +75,000 miles and +5yrs on my OEM battery on my TSX. I'm going to replace my TSX battery this weekend just in case.

What happened to the good old days when a battery would give you about a month’s warning with slow engine starts before it died? Anyone else have the RDX battery last as long as the warranty?

Lots of posts with the same complaint. I am at 49k and, after reading this, will replace it next weekend. Seems like the batteries just fart out on you when you least expect it.

Just had the dealer replace my OEM battery on my 07' TSX with 39k miles at my last service visit. The battery still seemed ok to me, but tested "poor", so they replaced it under warranty.

They installed an OEM 100 month battery. So far, it seems to be working good, and thankfully the warranty saved me $129!

Same thing happened to me two weeks ago. I was able to unlock the car, but as soon as I turned the key, it wouldn't start and the car was completely dead. It is a 2008 RDX with only 25,000 miles.

In the good old day's we did not have so many things that drained the battery such as powerful stereo systems, seat heaters, HID's etc.

same thing happened to me-While getting the annual state inspection in January 2010 the acura dealer replaced the battery free under warranty. Thanks to the 4yr/unlimited mileage warranty. They told me it tested low even tho I never had a problem with it. My 06 tsx had about 94,000 miles then. So far it is good after almost 30,000 miles.
