DC Power makes a great product, but one thing you have to watch with those 320A alts is the idle output. I know of a handful of people running them that don't have squat for output at idle, but once they get up in the RPM's they're fine. They also have lower voltage than that 14.8v that the website claims. There's a guy up in Chicago area that getslike 13.8v at best out of one. Also they have a very long lead time. Some people have waited months for an alt. But, their 270A alts are excellent. I don't think I've heard of a single failure on any of them.

I have heard good things about Bosch and I got my 200A for allot less than everyone else wants for it (almost 400 bucks cheaper) and its brand new so figured I would go with it. It also has good output at idle which is where most HO alts has a problem because the wires inside are bigger so it drops amps at idle because there isn't enough room in the factory case to have as many windings as the factory, just the wire is bigger to carry more current (at least thats what I have read about them). That is why some HO alts has a smaller pulley so it will push enough amps at idle

got the wires updated and also bought a shorter serpentine belt because the pulley is a little smaller than factory (acually about a inch in diameter smaller) but those amps are getting the juice now and you can definitely tell the difference. Also I have no dimming of headlights or has lights when the bass hits hard. I put in a techmaster PEB disc in just to make sure (I am sure some of you probably have never heard of him) I noticed my ABS light is on now, anyone have any idea what I could have knocked loose or something to cause this?

Depending on what setup you run you wont even need the 200. I have a 160 or 180 cant remember which. But I never had a problem. And I had a pretty heavy duty system not many here will run that much power.

Cut the bend out of my ebay SRI. The hum was driving me nuts. It is still humming but by about 135db less now. And yes I have a K&N filter on there and it didnt make the hum less. So I returned it and saved 30 bux by buying the el cheapo spectre filter.
Now what to put in that giant hole that my intake use to occupy?? Maybe somehuge a$$ air horns so people will get the heck outta my way.:tonguefaw:tonguefaw

160-180 probably would've been fine for that setup. Assuming you have an extra battery or 2, that is. I know several people with no voltage issues running 4-5 times your power with barely larger alts...

lol no offense man but thats really not that big. I when I had mine I was running 2 sundown audio saz2000d's strapped to a 18" sundown audio night shade. Had 2 batts in the rear. And never went below 13 at full tilt. Those jl's arnt pushing out any where near what the sundowns we're. Nice amps as they are still cant compare.

160 would be moer than enough for that, I'm pushing a 1500W amp and an 800W highs amp on a stock alternator with 2 caps

doubtful, the only one that really swapped the horns are Mitch and I, and the dude that did the train horns with the air compressor

well I had purchased a 160 amp alt and it still had my headlights blinking like a Christmas tree when the bass hit. I talked to the local guys at thge generator shop and they told me for 1000RMS the alt would need to be at least 90a over stock. Stock is 105 so that would be at least 195amps. 2 JL 1000/1 is 1000 rms a piece (seen one bench tested at more but for this we will say 1000) so you do the math. I am not running extra batteries like you said you were so that is a whole different story, I am also not running any caps, just 200a alt a yellow top battery and upgraded wire, that is it so I DO need a 200a alt and if I was going full blast all the time Iwould probably need more.Just the way I listen to my music (a lil loud for most people) with just the amp and all accessories on like lights and air the lights do not flicker. I know if I wanted to add batteries and caps and stuff I could get by with a smaller alt but why would I want to add all that crap. Now in my truck I have a old school RF X7 that I have had for years and the Birthsheet on it shows 1100RMS @ 4 OHMS at 14.6v and am pushing 2 8Ohm DVC kicker 12L7's so at 2 Ohm load on the amp and I have a cap on that one but didn't want all that crap in this car so 200a alt was the minimum I needed. In 1988 after graduation I worked for Freemans stereo in Gastonia and in 1995 I started a my own company called Carolina Custon Audio and built many competition systems so this isn't my first rodeo

To each and his own. Just my exp it's better to have more batts also as it will help the alt from dying as fast. They have changed audio a lot in 15 years though. Same concept yes but still. As long as your happy then thats all that matters. As you said it's not a big system so no worries.

I re-read what I said earlier and I made a typo. Its not 1 12w7 I have 2 jl12w7's in the trunk with each running off of a 1000/1. Sorry for the typo+
They have changed audio a lot in 15 years
You can say that again. I remember when I got my first car if you had a equalizer and a good set of 6x9's you had a rocking system. Of course audio cassette decks had not been out long and CD players didn't come out for cars until the early 90's and skipped like crazy

well got the old steering wheel off today and ready to put the new one on and there are allot of parts that will not interchange. The back plastic piece that hooks to the wheel will not fit from a 97 to this one (have no clue what its called nor where top get one) I am hoping one from a 98-99 will work since their airbag is the same. Another thing is there is nowhere to mount the cruise control switches (I am guessing the bracket is removable on the 98-99 but its made into the wheel on the 97) If anyone has done this switch please let me know how you went about this and if its just a 97 to the new wheel problem and if so can I get all parts needed from a 98-99 to make this wheel work. Right now I have no steering wheel on my car at all so I really need some help as soon as possible

For the first time ever, I went to one of those pull in car washes since it was too cold outside and I didn't feel like doing it myself in that weather. My car has never been so dirty. I think it's been about 3 weeks since she had a wash. Long story short. She didn't fit and I turned around.

Within the next few hours. I went to Firestone to get an alignment done, and who knew, I didn't fit on the lift either. Haha. I told the guy it probably wouldn't fit, but he was sure it would, and as I watched he came over and told me shamefully aha.

Well today I went and took all the wiring out of her. Ie power wire 1/0 3 sets of rca's and remote wires. Twas a bich to do and busted up my knuckles a bit seemed like she was fighting back at me to keep her wiring lol. I did this as I will be prob selling my bike (yes again lol) in the spring and getting a mid-full sized suv and making her my sound vehicle. No I won't be joining the others and selling the cl I just cant let her go. This was just some of what I had in her I have taken a bunch out already
