you mean a popper kit? 35 lb solenoids at least, and go with autoloc. all you need is a 2 channel kit that will open each door individually. i already have it done. shaving our doors isnt the easiest door to shave (i have shave a few in my day too) because of the line, but there are worse. that is the hardest part, the poppers are easy.

I think what their talkin about is taking out the door handles. Which is shaving it. And the popper is the thing that is used to open the door since the handle is gone.

Shaving simply means removing the handles from the doors, and doing the bodywork to make it look like they were never there. Poppers are what you need to make the door open once there are no handles, they install a selenoid that, once a button is pressed, will "pop" the door open...

sometimes it is keyless, sometimes there is a hidden button on the car that does it (like underneath the door frame, at the bottom of the car)

I know you can get a keyless entry thing also...so you wouldn't have to bend down every time to get in...that would become a pain in the ass to do that everytime..

ok guys.....listen,,,,,
my roommate is having it done this week......heres how it goes.........he bought a PRO system from autoloc.......just like rmstioco said......his was real expensive, but its alot more than just popers......it cost near 600$ retail......and it includes keyless entry, poppers (solinoids) ALL wiring, alarms with 6 stage sounding horn, remote trunk, remote start.....bla bla.....anyway, you go to the body shop and they pull the door esembly out, then they usually tack weld in a piece of sheet metal then fill and sand till its smooth (usually using a metal filler, like bondo with metal flakes in it)......then install the kit with the poppers so when you unlock the car the door pops out about an inch, then you get in and close and youre done........it locks back into where the popper is......,...its pro, and clean when done.....as long as its a good body shop........but seriously.....if anyone is considering it.......autoloc is the best......they make serious shit! check em out online........and call for any questions, theyre real helpful!

also, the idea about the switch under the frame.......thats emergency.......the shop asks you (with their influencing opinions) about where you wanna put a "BACKUP" button, encase the batteries ever die in the remote...so if they did, you have youre little backup secret button that you could just use!

Now I was thinking about doing this, but I was planning on going with Dakota Digital's kit because you can open and close windows and your trunk as well as pop the doors! See here...
Dakota Digital
Is autoloc a better name? I've never heard of them!

opening the windows and the trunk really has nothing to do with the brand you get, it depends on the kit. if you have a 4 channel transmitter then you have 2 extra options to do whatever you want with. people use the windows on the 3rd or 4th channel in case of the poppers failing or burning out.

autoloc is the best... and i would use nothing less than 35lb solenoids. they are very easy to install. the hardest part with the poppers is getting it mounted adjacent to the lever and mounting it so the cord is tight and the popper is not in the way of the window or the window rails. lots of frustrating hand work in a small area, which is my biggest pet peeve, but it is well worth the time.

one last suggestion, try to get a kit that rolls the code. that way code grabbers will not open the door. if it is a rolling code kit, you will not have to look hard in the specifications to find it, they usually advertise that on the top of the list because in the bigger cities code grabbers are everywhere.

um.. for 600+ bucks you could do some serious performance work keep in mind.. and btw.. its one or the other.. so you guys can decide now.. you can either have a show car.. or a race car.. 1 they won't let you race at the track without door handles.. and 2.. please don't try to play on both sides of the line.. unless you have stupid amounts of money.. your going to end up with an ugly slow car.. ..

Good points, but it depends on what you really want. If you want to shave em, do it! I think it looks pretty bad ass! And if your worried about the racing thing, just get the kit and leave the door handles on. They only say you have to have them, they don't say they have to work

Woudln't that defeat the entire purpose of doing it? You would have door handles on, but they wouldn't work. :sqnteek:
