hi all, as i was on my way to the airport on friday, half way till i reach the airport, the check engine light came on. mind you that i just got the ride like 3 weeks ago. I was both worried and pissed off. anyway, i came back today and do the lil test dcsquirm88 posted w/ the paper clip thing. but the codes i got don't quite match what niedejb has on his site.

so i'm wondering if those codes only for 2.2's? I have a 97 3.0.

the code i got off the check engine light is alternating 7 and 8 long pulse. Am i reading it right? Also, the light around the "D4" is blinking too. it's 2 long, 6 short. does this have to do with anything?

Also, i just put gas in sometime last week but i've drove more then 3 trips, but they are short trips though.

Please help me. i want my car to be normal again what is wrong w/ my ride???

 

you have a tranny problem... not sure what, but thats why the D4 light is flashing too.

when I had my 97 3.0, it did that and the tranny ended up being shot... but it was under warranty... check your codes again and make sure.

 

do you think that it just needs a transmission fluid change? i'm just hoping that this is nothing major. how does it cost to change the trany? i can't afford thousands of $$$ to fix that.

 

One more question... I've just checked the transmission fuild and it's not pink, looks a lil brownish. I was wondering, will the engine light turn on if the transmission fuild needs to be change? I don't have time to take her in yet, so i'm kinda trying to speculate the problem w/ the engine light thing.

anyone else have any other input? i'll really appericate your help.

 

I just had a problem with my transmision fixed. It ended up being a couple of busted colenoids. Each one ran me $274 installed. A lot cheeper than getting the whole thing fixed.
