Check engine light ?'s
Check engine light ?'s
My check engine light came on today. Not sure why, the car is running perfectly and I just changed the oil, not leaking anything or hesitating at all......
Anyone have any ideas of what this could be.
I have a 98 3.0 with 42000 miles on it.
(Oh, and its not because the gas cap is not on tight enough)

if it does not go awat by resetting the ecu then u will have to go ot a shop to get the code and reset it or fix the prob. mine didnt go off cuz i screwed around with my tps and reseting the ecu did nothin. i had to go to a local shop pull out my ashtray and they cleared the code for me free of charge.

I think the sensor is over a hundred bucks. Downfall of driving the car like that is you only have one check engine light. Soooo if your oil pump goes out and your lights already on.......
All that sensor does is tell your ecu that your catalytic convertor is working. Better find out if its that before you contemplate ignoring it.

Wow, my light just came on as well and I was just gonna send a post and this one was already there. The check engine light isn't on a mileage timer like the maintenance light is it? I couldn't understand why it would come on. The weather just turned a little cooler my car is running better than ever because I don't have a CAI or anything and then this light pops on. Oil was just changed about a week and a half ago and the engine is running great. Think I should have the O2 sensor checked? Thanks guys
Did any of you get that letter from Acura telling about the problem with the emissions and the computer? It mentioned that sometimes the problem may result in a maintenance light coming on for no reason. I'd say go to Acura dealer and they'll check it and replace any faulty parts for free.
I'll bet they replace a few odds and ends due to this problem. I'm not sure if this is true for the 3.0's though...

Yup, I got that letter, I'm gonna call Acura tomorrow and schedule an appointment to bring it in. I'm HOPING I can get this covered under that letter because I'm a little low on the cash flow, I just moved.
