Rod bearing sizing

Tried replacing my rod bearings with new standard bearings to try to fix my rod knock. It improved a little. After a week of driving it sounds like it did before.

I want to try it again. This time using plastiguage to measure the clearances and using undersized bearings.

I found a chart showing some color coded bearing thicknesses.

What is the thickness of a standard rod bearing for J35A5 engine?

Thanks for that info.

So 18 years ago new off the factory floor they had my car's rods and crank stamped and it came with mixed sizes of bearings installed not just one standard size fits all?

If so, the bearings that were in my car must have been replaced before because they didn't have any color code on them that I could see.

I replaced them all with the following standard size rod bearings I found on Amazon:

DNJ RB284A Standard Rod Bearing Set
FITS: 99-17 Acura, Honda, Saturn 3.2L-3.5L V6 SOHC Naturally Aspirated J35Z2,J35Y1,J35Z8,J35Z4,J35Z6,J35Z5,J35A6,J35A8,J3 2A3,J35A9,J35A5,J35A4,J32A1,J35A3,J35A1

I didn't have a micrometer to measure them. Just assumed they were the same size as factory new. Thats why I was asking what the standard size rod bearing thickness was and I'm wondering if the color coded bearings are all thicker than standard size.

look at the stampings on the side of the rod instead; the online ones are a generic fit and aren't really plus or minus sized. Honda has very tight tolerances so there isn't a 1 size fits all solution.
