Navigation buttons / interface dial not working on 2010

Yesterday, I hooked up a USB drive with about 20 gigs of music on it into the auxiliary USB input. Music played fine, nav worked as well. A few hours later I tried to use the navigation but none of the buttons or the interface dial worked. Radio buttons still work fine. Screen is working fine when backup camera is engaged and when nav is loading. I'm a hardware guy, so my instinct tells me it's hard drive related. Just wondering if someone else has experienced this issue and if there is an easy fix? It's a 2010 MDX with Tech / Ent

I have not experienced this, but maybe disconnecting and reconnecting the battery could reset and see if it functions again. Also check fuses...

So, here are the additional symptoms I'm having. The radio and nav come on but about 20 seconds later, they power off at the same time. A few seconds later they power on again and this seems to be an endless loop. Also, I noticed that the phone and voice commands button on the steering wheel, along with the interface Dian and map related buttons are no longer working. Replaced the tech package multi block fuse, but that didn't fix it. I'm thinking that this might have something to do with the HFL. Anyone else had symptoms like this?

It seems all Acura vehicle really hate low or intermittent power. It could be faulty unit or bad ground somewhere causing the power fluctuation. Are there any aftermarket parts installed like dash cam, brake controller, car alarm, remote starts, radar detector, or additional sound system amps/subs/speakers?

A month or so after I noticed this issue, the battery died, the alternator went out, the power outlet quit working and the charging system relay blew.

Several months ago, I replaced the factory sub with an aftermarket sub of a higher power rating. Other than that, it's pretty much a stock tech/ent.

I was never able to figure out what is causing the issue. I replaced all of the fuses and relays associated with the radio & entertainment system. May be the hands free link, a loose ground or an issue with the radio itself. I don't the dial & steering wheel buttons have a separate fuse. I wish there was an inexpensive way to determine if the radio is defective. Would just take it to the dealer, but I don't want to pay a couple hundred bucks for a tech to tell me the radio is bad when I can get a used unit on ebay for around $300.

Thank you for the update. I just took out the radio and checked voltage coming from navigation button connector. there is voltage on pins when any button is pressed but radio is not picking it up. I will let you know if I figured out anything.

Did anyone figure out this issue? My back up camera works fine when I’m reversing. My radio works but my Navi screen won’t turn on. Here is a picture of how it looks when I’m driving.

Hi Joanna,

The problem that i figure out was with the radio unit itself. Its not worth to repair it. I would suggest to get a used radio unit and install it. In my case I made a new touchscreen system using raspberry pi and installed it in car. I hacked navigation dial and using it to control my system, factory rev cam and same radio unit for audio using aux. And also Android auto 😁

x2... love reading these DIYs. Raspberry PI to a touch screen interface would be interesting for another vehicle I have. For the 2G MDX, NAVTOOL makes sense based on where the screen sits and mirroring would be 10x easier to control from the phone.

Update wasn't done properly or didn't take if it was working fine prior...I've seen this multiple times. Best thing to try is a battery cable reset then do the update again. It's possible the unit is bricked.

2006 Navi is a TOTALLY different and very dated system. You need a unit from a 2007-2009.
