Interface dial stiff in cold

Lately I've noticed that the interface dial (controls the map zoom) is really stiff when the car interior is cold. It's only after leaving it all day at work with the outside temp 25F or less. In the AM after being garaged all night it's fine, and also after the interior warms up for a while.

It's really hard to turn and it feels like it's grinding a bit.

I have an oil change in a few weeks so will have the dealer look at it, but I was wondering if anyone else has experienced this?

I think mine gets cold and harder to turn too but it still works fine. Not like a grinding or anything. I don't have warranty left so I just live with it.

Thanks. I'm out of warranty too, but if I can replicate it I'll have the dealer look into it.

same exact thing happens to me. I kinda have to pull it towards me in order to rotate it before the car warms up.

I haven't had that problem with the RDX, although the radio controls/HVAC controls are very laggy on the display when it's below freezing.

that happens when a electronic device is left out in a not so suitable temperature for a long period of time though i have not yet to experience this on the car i have experienced this with my older cars and aftermarket radios when cold the the display would react slower eventhough it is accepting the user's request only nano seconds though. lol i also had this aftermarket radio where if its too hot or cold i would not get any sounds. Another radio i had to max the volume sound comes and then adjust it to normal decibel

Same here.. In my 3 years with the TL I never had a problem with the controls in the cold, especially with the knob grinding. But as you mentioned when its below freezing the display is slow to respond.. Which is understandable.

I have had the problem and brought it to the dealer twice. The first time they couldn't reproduce..( predictably ) second time they said they cleaned it and told me not to spill coffee in the car which really pissed me off BECAUSE I DO NOT EAT OR DRINK INSIDE MY CAR.

its probably a bit of moisture thats getting trapped in there, spray a very small amount of WD40 through the gap and it should help a bit.
