How to turn off Interface Dial Feedback FOREVER?

Okay, we all know that when you turn your car on and you switch songs in your XM or Radio, etc, the stupid lady tells you the name of the song.

And we all know that to disable this, you go to the Setup screen >> Interface Dial Feedback and turn it to 'OFF'

Here's the problem:

When you start your car again, the setting goes back to 'Auto' by default. You then have to go through turning the dial 'OFF' every time you start your car again.

This is the most annoying thing in the world and a car that cost $45k should have a simple setting to have this feature turned off permanently.

On the side note, can an admin on this forum send me a message? It's marketing and business related

After you've turned it off the next time, try resaving your memory settings over on the driver's door. Turn it to "off", then hit "memo", then "1" or "2", whichever driver you are. I'm betting that will hold that "off" setting in memory for that driver. Let me know if that works. I'm curious to see if it does.

I have tried that already, doesn't work. I went to an acura service station, the guy said there is no way to turn it off permanently. I don't believe him, $50k ride can't possibly miss a simple thing like this.

Hmmm, that's interesting. I just tried it on an MDX and an RDX for that matter. I started the car, switched it to "off". Turned off the car for a few minutes, then turned it back on. It was still set to off. I thought this was odd at first, because this bugs me in all of our cars and the first thing I do, when I get in one is to turn that to "off". I don't think I've ever had one go back to "auto" by itself.

Actually, the thing is. If you turn it it to "off", then turn off the car; then if you start the car right away, it remains off. But after a minute, it will go back to auto as the system loads.

Also, when you first start the car and go to the system settings ASAP, it will show up as 'Off'. But if you start the car and go to the settings 30 seconds later, it will be on Auto.

I left it "off" last night and checked it this morning. It is still "off". I turned the car on and played around with the nav for several minutes as well. Still "off".

they might have changed it for the 09s. If you have the 08 mdx, it would be great if you can check. If not, no biggie I suppose.

I can tell you for a fact that that is not how it's supposed to work. My question for you would be when you "turn it to off" you are turning the interface dial so "off" is highlighted then pushing the dial in to select it right? My only other thought would be relinking the remote. If you push "lock" and "unlock" at the same time it will unlink your remote from the cars memory functions, if you do it a second time it will relink the remote. My memory is a little foggy on these thinks but I think the light on the remote blinks 2x for linking and 1x for unlinking. Once you have relinked the remote (which will be apparent bc the memory seat lights on the door will come on when the door is unlocked and opened) go back into the setup screen, highlight off for interface dial feedback then push the dial in to select it.

Yes, I don't just roll the dial over to off, I push to select off. And I'm a little confused about what you said regarding the linking.

I understood the part on how to link them and unlink them. But is this the order I do it in?

1. Hold both buttons to unlink
2. Turn car on and change interface dial to 'off' (yes by selecting it).
3. Turn car off
4. Hold both buttons to link

I wish one of you were near Alabama so I can just drive over and show you first hand haha. Also, I haven't been to the dealer yet, I'll try to remember to go tomorrow.

Okay, an update on the situation. It may have worked, I will have to turn the car on and off for few days to check, and double check.

This is what I did:

1. Car was turned on, still in Park
2. Change the settings for interface dial to off
3. While the key in ignition and the car running, I pressed both buttons and held them for about 3 seconds until the red light blinked. I figured this linked or updated the settings.
4. The next time I started the car, the interface was on off, however my XM and Radio settings went to default (which was kind of weird).

But either way, if this worked, then thank you everyone who helped me with this.

On the side note, anyone play Halo?

Well, that isn't exactly what I was saying to do, but if it worked then it gets a

I worked for Acura for about 4 years and found that "unlinked" remotes can cause a lot of frustration with odd electronic issues. I would typically shut off the interface feedback for people when they picked up their cars. I'd say 99.9% of people found the feedback both useless and annoying.
