I have had my ZDX (advanced) for almost 9 years now. And about a month ago I lost one of my key fobs in a lake. Luckily I still had my second key. So anyway, I needed to get a replacement so I would still have a back up fob in case I did something stupid again. the fob that I still had was a memory "2" fob. The least expensive new fob that I was able to find is also a memory "2" fob. Does anyone know if I can change one of these fobs to a memory "1" fob? I was able to get the fob programmed to the car by a locksmith so it does work but the car sees both keys as a memory "2". Thanks for any advice in advance.
Each key is a different part number
you can try this unlink both keys by holding down lock and unlock until it blinks twice. Then one remote at a time press the same two buttons until it blinks once (re-linking the remote). You may want to unlock the doors and start the car after resetting each key.
Kevin,
Thank you for the suggestion. I had found that process previously but I think that is for older keys. It did not work for me. When I hold both the lock and unlock button - the little led does not ever blink. I also called my local dealership and they did tell me that I could not change the memory number on the key. I'm just hoping that I can find a different way - otherwise, I'll be searching for a #1 key fob. Maybe someone here has an extra one???? for reference - here is what my key looks like. I assume all the ZDXs have the same but I'm not sure.
yep. I got the replacement key off ebay also. I thought it could have been reprogrammed but the locksmith said he was not able to change it. The #1 keys seem to be very hard to find. Not any reasonably price #1 on ebay currently.
