Programming Key Fob
Programming Key Fob
I'm a brand new owner for a 2013 ILX. I love the car but unfortunately the previous owner only delivered one key to me so I need to order a driver 2 fob. The dealership wants $119 for the fob and $47 for the key, which isn't too bad, but they also want $100 to program the new fob, which seems ridiculous.
I've read some articles about programming an Acura/Honda fob (e.g. How to Program Factory Honda Acura Remote Key Fobs: 10 Steps) and that seems easy enough, but I can't find any source on whether this procedure will work with the keyless setup. Has anyone done this? Any advice?
Thanks in advance.

In answer of my own question: While there are plenty of places to purchase the fob, and some will even cut the emergency key for you, programming the fob requires special equipment. I imagine that this likely requires a dealer visit.
The local dealer charged me $265 for the fob, key and programming which included $100 in "labor."
