A nice detail and wax and sealant would hold up nicely and it should be done ESPECIALLY if the car isn't garaged.

Nah not really. All of my "mods" are related to lighting. I might vinyl wrap the roof in glossy CF but depending on how long it may take to get shipped here, I might hold off on it until after winter.

I just detailed Raj's car yesterday and he said it gets parked outside. I think getting a detail for a car that stays outside is more important than for a garage parked car. The reason is the paint is always left outside to contaminants and exposed to the elements. Although having the paint corrected isn't vital, it would certainly improve it's appearance. Putting on a durable wax/sealant is very important since it would serve as a protective layer for the clearcoat.

Yeah I went to Pointe West Honda to get all my servicing done since I have a hook-up there. My quote for the timing belt was $700-$800 so I'll probably get it done there once it's time

Okay I meant to mention this before to Myron and Raj after I detailed your cars, but it is essential to wash your cars properly to ensure the finish stays swirl free. Here's a video of the two bucket wash method.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xobp-uptqtA

This is generally what I do when I wash customers and my own vehicle. A few of my individual differences from the video are as follow:

1. I don't do the "foam" method the person does on his video. I have a foam cannon so it blankets the entire car in soap. I realize most people won't be purchasing one so an alternative that I used before I purchased a foam cannon was to simply hose down the car. If you like, you can do what the person on the video does as well but this is simply my personal preference.

2. I've gone through quite a few wash media. Initially I used a microfiber mitt but then switched over to a sheepskin mitt. Both aren't bad but lately I've switched over to using a Zymol sponge. I go through my phases so find out whichever mitt/sponge works for you guys. I wouldn't recommend the sponges you can get in a 6 pack for a $1 though. They are definitely too stiff and abrasive, leading to marring and scratching on the paint.

3. The drying towel the person uses is NOT a bath towel. It is a gigantic microfiber towel that is safe on paint. Personally, I use a leaf blower after the car wash to get the majority of water off and then spot dry with plush microfibers. If you guys don't have a leaf blower, there is something called a "sheeting" method. After you are done washing the entire car, take the nozzle off of your garden hose and lightly turn the water on. Sprinkle water from top to bottom of all the panels. When done properly, you will notice this "sheeting" method actually grabs onto the majority of the water and pulls it down, off the car.

4. Please remember to remove all labels from wash mitts and towels. It appears the person in the video forgot to do so. Failure to remove the labels can result in scratching the paint since the edges can get caught while you're washing a panel.

5. I realize most people don't have a canopy to envelope their car while they wash it like the person in the video has. I don't either so I try to wash my car when the sun isn't beating down on me. Don't wash your car when the panels are hot, this will cause the soap to dry up quickly and lead to spotting. Don't wash your car in the middle of the day when it's crazy hot outside, it will lead to water spotting. During details, I wash in the morning when there is sun out but it isn't a big deal since it gets brought into the garage immediately to be clayed and polished, removing all staining that would have occurred. I like to wash my car when the sun is going down or when there is a bit of cloud cover. Today I washed my car around 8PM and it was perfect weather to do so.

If you guys don't have the time/aren't willing to dedicate the time to this type of wash method, please don't just use a random sponge and go wild on the paint. I'd recommend taking it to a touchless car wash and pressure washing every panel down. DO NOT USE THE PROVIDED BRUSH AT THE CAR WASH! There is so much junk stuck inside that brush I can't imagine the horror it would unleash on paint. I have a pressure washer at home so I kind of get the best of both worlds. I'm insanely anal about car detailing though so I really don't expect anyone to go to the depths I've gone. My neighbours usually look at me funny since I'm outside multiple times a week cleaning my car. Once winter hits, I'll be hibernating at home and visiting those touchless car washes to get all the road grime off the car. Screw two bucket method washing during our winter lol.

Good luck with maintaining your car paint! Feel free to ask me any questions guys.

i definitely recommend the leaf blower first and then do the final wipe with a drying towel. so much faster and less swirls for sure. once you use a leaf blower you kinda wonder why you never did a long time ago

Yeah if you guys get a leaf blower, don't cheap out either. Mine blows air at 255MPH and I still wish it went faster. At first I bought one that went to 140MPH max but it wasn't effective for blowing water out of the engine bay. After using a 255MPH one, I can never go back to 140MPH. The difference is night and day. Plus it also helps to have a wax/sealant on the paint. Without any LSP (Last Step Protection), blowing water off the paint is 10X harder. The wax/sealant allows the beaded water particles to glide effortlessly across the paint.

The majority of my products are purchased locally from here

Lol it's easy to put a few products in the cart. It really starts adding up though if you don't watch it carefully

There are better brushes out there in comparison to the EZ Detail Brushes though. They have so much splash back when cleaning wheel wells and aren't aggressive enough to get off brake dust. If you're looking for a brush to get the inner barrels of your wheels, get the Raceglaze XL Wheel Brush.

For the wheel wells and the face of the wheel, get this http://www.autoobsessed.com/shop/lon...ush-p-332.html

A good set of all around brushes for the lug nuts, badges, interior pieces, this is a good buy http://www.autoobsessed.com/shop/rac...ush-p-806.html

There probably is a DIY out there if you do some in depth searching but it actually isn't all that difficult to remove them.

For the front sidemarkers, you have to remove part of the plastic chunk at the wheel well. For example, if you're taking out the driver side marker, turn the wheel fully to the left so you have easier access. Unscrew the 3-4 screws and take off those stupid 1 time use plastic black tabs. Pull the liner back and reach your hand inside. There are 2 plastic tabs on either end of the sidemarker which you have to squeeze. Squeeze one end and push it out, then squeeze the other end and voila. I really don't know how someone would remove it from the outside, it only makes sense to me to remove it from the inside.

For the rear sidemarkers, open the trunk and remove part of the carpet liner back. Take back enough to expose a portion of the trunk so that you can reach your hand in and get at the sidemarker. Similar to the front marker, squeeze the tabs and push it out. The sidemarkers are connected by one tab which easily pushes out. Make sure you leave that connector hanging outside the car otherwise it might be an ordeal fishing it back out.

For the passenger side, do the exact same thing. Only difference is for the passenger front, turn the wheel fully to the right.

Best of luck!

Welcome! Go pm AckTL05, he is a vendor here and you can buy a whole A-Spec Kit for 800 dollars shipped.

What's new guys? I was driving a while ago and saw a lowered 07-8 Carbon Graphite TL with a personal plate that says "MY UFO".

Thanks edmua6! Il look into that, I was out tonight and noticed a member TL I believe. White, lowered on 20 or so Chrome wheels, blacked out tails, blacked headlight housings, black roof, a spec kit. Definetly a eye catcher!

It's a 2006 alabaster silver metallic I believe. (since I think they changed from satin silver) with dynamic package. So far all stock except for previous owner did LED interior bulb changes. I have some type S tail lights I plan to order though and a full a spec kit to give it more appeal. I will definetely try and keep my eyes peeled for other members around the city.
