Not Much Brake Dust

I've noticed that my '04 TL produces very little brake dust residue
on the rims. This is at least compared to other cars I've owned -
my driving habits haven't changed, just the car. Something
I am certainly not complaining about!

Has anybody else noticed this, and was curious if there is something
special about the brake pads that explains this.

Or is this all a rim design isuue? I've noticed Mercedes and BMWs
seem to have alot of brake dust on them when you see the cars
on the road. Just a cude observation...

Also, is there something you can put on the rims to help keep
down the B/D from sticking once they have been cleaned?

I traded in a 2000 BMW 323 on my 2004 TL, and the brake dust on my BMW seemed to never end...I was ALWAYS cleaning it. But you're right about the TL....hardly any dust. I guess the Germans could take a lesson. Hmmm.

smr2112, do you have 6MT? With brembo it throws more brakedust than 5AT due to performance brake pads. I've waxed my wheels on 6MT and they get very easy to clean.

My '04 TL is 5AT. I figured it might be ceramic brakes.
What do they do for the disc roto life?

Does this keep all of the dust off or does it just make it easier to clean off the dust?

waxing wheels will help keep some of the dust off, but dust will still stick to the wheels. If the wax is still there, it will make cleaning easier. I prefer to use Zaino on wheels.
I wash my car and wheels pretty much every week, so I don't have dust build up.
