The liquid NXT is the wax itself. The spray (cheaper bottle) is a "booster" wax which helps maintain the shine. So you can use the booster wax after you wash your car.

Nxt tech wax is a polymer selanat type of product with mild cleaning abilites and some fillers to hide swirls and scratches. Depending on the color it will darken the paint too and give a really deep wet look. The Spray wax is a "booster" - it's basically NxT in a bottle that you spray on wipe and let haze then wipe off -
