I hope Pinnacle Wax is worth it

I saw a guy waxing his Prelude. Had a damn nice shine on it. I asked and he said is was Pinnacle. So I saw it for myself and liked it before I even knew what it was.

I just spent 116 bucks on this stuff.. I sure hope its worth it.

Anyone else out there use it?

Won't look good for long......It has hardly no carnuba content and is loaded with oils. That is the shine you are seeing. It looks good, but if you have an outdoor car it offers very little durablitity. You will find this out.....post results..

Oooo... Pinnacle Rocks.. thats all I gotta say... the leather cleaner / conditioner kicks butt too.

MMMMMMmmmmm

It was a bit pricey, but I think it was fairly worth it.

I am not on a HATERADE. I use Zaino because it works best for me. I just gave the facts on the Pinnacle product. Have you ever used it?!? It uses oils for shine and has a low carnuba content....very easy to use. SHINE IS VERY DEEP...I will give it that. If you are looking for a lower cost alternative that lasts try blitz. Depends on what you are looking for...if you like the oily shine look, go with pinnacle for shine (NO DURABILITY and WILL loose gloss with every wash), or blitz for shine and durability (4-6 weeks at most). If you want GREAT durability and ability to layer and a highly reflective shine go with zaino. Its all preference and this is ALL FACTS. I myself cant justify the cost of pinnacle being that is has the same ingredients as most other carnuba/oils products...a little more of this...a little more of that,....kind of like the ZYMOL line that goes up to 1000 bucks a pop....can someone say MARKETING?!?!? But again it is all preference....if someone doesnt care about money and wants something that is easy to use and doesnt mind using often and prefers that oily wet look SHINE....then you found your product....pinnacle all the way.

It isn't a matter of not caring about money. Most folks will come in, make a suggestion or comment and leave it at that. Polite. But it seems that there are a few overzealous Zaino users that feel they have to try and discredit everything anyone else does. Sal Zaino says this and Sal Zaino says that. And if you're not using Zaino your car won't look as good...blah blah blah. It's almost like no one can say anything about THEIR personal preference without getting pounced on, and it gets old.

I've used Pinnacle before and it works FINE and it lasted for quite some time and the car was parked outside in the Texas sun which can be quite brutal. Just a little pricey is all, but good stuff just the same.

No one really knows the TRUE content of these products. I read the Zaino web site and he never mentions what's in his product. All he talked about was "gloss enhancers". Now what the hell is a "gloss enhancer"? He's not gonna say, and he'd be stupid to do so. And none of the other manufacturer's will tell you their chemical breakdowns either. It'd be like Coca-Cola sending Pepsi their formula. You have a light sprinkling of facts combined with a LOT of personal bias.

All I stated were the facts....lets see how mantis likes pinnacle...

For the record, there was a time when I was happy with the shine and durability of carnuba products....I have since moved on to a product that works better for me. I am just sharing my experiences....and I will leave it as that. Use what works best for you.....but the purpose of this board is for info, facts, learning, opinions, and talk. Don't get so offended.....post what works best for you/worst for you, and why you don't like a certain product and so on....right?

Offended? Over CAR WAX??? *laughing*

The "facts" here are VERY subjective. We aren't chemists working for any of these car wax manufacturers. I'm somewhat cautious when I say that I am stating a "fact" because I don't truly know what the breakdown is in these products (compounds, percentages, etc). We are relying on two things: our personal experience and what these people (who, coincidentally, want us to buy their products) TELL US.

Just for the hell of it, I'm going to Email a few major car wax manufacturers and ask them about durability, shine, etc. I'll post what they have to say under a separate heading.

And, for the record, I did my car this weekend with the clay bar, the dish soap, the works. All Meguiars products. My paint is so deep you can fall into it. I'm really happy with my results. That IS a fact

Well, I'm going for the Kevlar vest....

I love the Zaino for my car.

But... I had my wife's car done with TS Clear Coat. It had now been in the sun for about 2 months and still looks as good as the day it was done.

BTW -- I still have a bunch of 3M Imperial Hand Glaze, Mothers and Meguiar's waxes and other products. They look great, but I was having to do a re-wax about every 1-3 months.

Please, no flames, I think there are even other alternatives, like the TS Clear coat (and undiscovered gems) that work very well.

(I actually judge the quality and qualifications of a detailer by their work
AND their willingness to work with a variety of products!)

I used dishwashing liquid to start (no particular brand...they all cut grease) then Meguiar's clay bar and Quik Detailer. Then their Gold Class Clear Coat Prep/Swirl Reducer and Gold Class Liquid Carnauba Wax, both applied with a random-orbit buffer and removed with regular ole' cotton towels. Armor-All on the tires and Rain-X on the windshield and headlights. There isn't a scratch or swirl mark on the car. And it looks like a million bucks.

The only problem I ran into was after I applied the Clear Coat Prep, I had a hard time removing it because the humidity was so high that it wasn't drying properly. I waited until the next morning and it buffed right off.

BTW, I have received two responses to my inquiry so far. Will wait for a few more days and then post results.

Sounds good. I agree gold class does have an impressive shine. I couldn't get it to last after a few washes though...and noticed the gloss fading......perhaps you will have better luck....let us know..
