Forum help on Meguiars Wax - static
I'm a little new to anal car care, never had a new nice car worth the effort, so sorry if this is a real amateur question but.. Got a new TLX and washed and waxed it for the winter. Used Meguiar's products and did two very thin wax coats over two day period. Looks great, but now a few days in and the car attracts anything light weight by what looks like static electricity. EVERYTHING now seems to "stick" to the car... leafs, grass blade, flower petals, tons of dust. Did I miss something in the process, or do something wrong in the wax process or is this something with mequiar's product?
as a follow up, if I need to redo it, what is a good product to strip the wax and begin again?
thanks

understand what a wax/sealant does.
it protects from the sun, it aids in washing, and it gives the car paint an amazing shine.
as you found out, your car is now VERY slick and things will get attracted to it.
that's the name of the game!
except now, its very easy to wash off.
do a full wash every week which will help keep the dust off.

static is what it is/
the towel is the most important part of detailing IMO.
draw the MF towel over your palm and open hand...if it grabs use it for wheels and under areas. buy GOOD towels for the paint.
i only use Adam's double soft on my paint.
also, wax burns off from heat and sun.
I would suggest you research a sealant to put on before you wax. a decent sealant will last 6 months or more where as the best wax in the world can burn off in 2 weeks on black car in fla.
the meguiars forums are great for techniques.
i am currently using the menzerna sealant. its not too expensive for a large bottle on amazon.
its a bit thick but can be applied by hand and removed by hand, it will make it feel like you just dipped the car in clear M&M. HELPS A TON with stuff sticking.
and then you can periodically wax ON TOP of the sealant as you like to add more protection and some extra depth.

The static is created from the wax on wax off movement itself. Wash the car and the majority of the issue will go away.
The sealant comment is right.. Will outlast carnauba based waxed by a long shot BUT you don't need to apply a wax over it. An excellent low $$ sealant is Meguiars #21 and it layers well. Another thats not as pretty but gives great protection is Duragloss #105 usually available at Car Quest.
Costco yellow MF towelas are also excellent for sealant removal, cut off the tags.

Your car is beautiful! I've had the same situation before, I used a detail spray and fresh microfiber to calm it down, seems to do the trick for me. Someone mentioned earlier in the thread, to make sure your microfiber towels are not charged before using them.
