Hello everyone ...

Well from the last meet, some of you found out I had some under carriage damage due to a rock on Dallas Parkway up in Frisco. Well, the construction company cut me a check, and I received it in the mail over the weekend.

I just hope it clears. Here is a to the construction company for paying for the repairs.

well after reading around a bit, changing the front rotors appears easy. (it always appears that way though).

Guess I'll try to DIY.

One thing you might consider is talking with DMD and find out from them what their shop quotes for the labor involved, time to do the work. That will give you a good gauge of the level of effort. If they say 8 hours labor then you'll know that it would probably take you longer and it might be considered harder for you. If they come back and say 2 hours then you probably know it'll be easy for you to do.

Then throw in the pain and effort for you to do it over the cost of DMD and that should help you decide. Remember, if they do the work, they warranty the work. If you do it then you own it.

they'll never tell u how long it's gonna take. hehe. u could try vandergriff in arlington on 20 and cooper. there is a guy named bob westerle. he always hooks me up with free brake fluid or touch up paint. maybe he'll be able to slap those bad boys on.

I have changed front/rear pads in about 30 mins per side. Rotors, at least on the TSX, are fairly easy. You just need an impact driver to get out 2 screws.

The hardest part for me was breaking loose the caliper bolts and then getting the torque wrench up in there when putting everything back together.

EDIT
I have only upgraded to a better pad material. I have not installed rotors, but several ppl in the TSX forum did a DIY. The worst part is removing those screws without stripping them out.

I haven't done brakes in a while and one day need to do mine. I can alway do a refresher on yours.

Let me know if you are and we can take a look at what's involved. Shouldn't be harder than the ThermoBlok or Mugen cooling mods we did.

...and this is by only using a normal jack/stands and hand tools. If I were in the shop with a lift and an impact wrench, we're talking 40 minutes. If a place quotes you more than an hour to do it, they're pushing it. I usually had my labor rates set for 1 hour to swap rotors per end (front or rear).

Neither Lowes nor Autozone had an Impact Screwdriver.

Where am I supposed to find one of these things?

Yeah, I need my rear rotors and pads done. Mantis post some pics and let me know how hard/easy it is. Oh and after you find that impact screwdriver, can I borrow it?

Why do you need your rears done? Those things never need it...well you should go through fronts a couple times before the rears need it.
