my best time was a disappointing 14.568@97.55. That is a new best for me, but I was hoping for at least a 14.4xx. Oh well, when it get's cold I know i'll be there.

Also, I don't know what I did different, but in my first race I had a 2.25 60' and ended up with a 14.7xx. And in my second race I had a 60' a tenth slower, but ended up about 2 tenths faster. That tells me that with a couple more runs I probably could have combined the better launch with the better run and gotten a 14.4xx.

I think that sticky crap they added right b4 my first run may have actually helped. I thought my launch was worse that time, but my 60' says otherwise. I think 14.3xx may be a possibility....

Danny, check out your race... listen to the crowd's reaction

Everyone thought you were the underdog. When I got back in line to run again, people were asking me if I was you.

Never got there did it. 72 was the lowest I saw. While that southeasterly breeze felt good, it was pumping up the humidity.

Inferno, what was your best time of the night? Have much luck launching the STi? It looked like you got out of the gate pretty well on the video.

I just found out there is a import show tonight at Speed Zone on 35 just south of 635. I think I will go by and have a couple beers and check out the cars. I understand its 3-10pm no cover.

that was a sweet kill. I got it on tape, but I think I missed the end because unknowingly, the camera was on high quality and only recorded for 15 seconds.

Thanks Bluesman

I thought Danny got it on video, but maybe it didn't turn out or something. I'd sure like to have had that for my files.

what happened to Casper's eye?

bad ass times mantis... I need to get nitrous next. It's decided now. My 14.3 @ 98 is about as good as it's gonna get so far as in warm weather goes. I need to get into 13s like you.

Ruf : what was your best time that night? did yo post and I missed it?

I'll post up my times from wednesday...

TEMP : 75*
Humidity: 50%

RT : 1.4313
60 foot : 2.2952
330 foot : 6.2038
1/8 mile : 9.3939
1/8 MPH : 76.63
1000 ET : 12.0856
1/4 ET : 14.3838
1/4 MPH: 98.17

Mods: I/H/E/Springs (CT), Eibach Sways
Tire Pressure : 25# in front, 40# in back
Gas : 3/8 tank

no spare, no jack...

My 60 foot could use some work. I really need to get it down to 2.1. I'm not exactly sure how. Allmotor told me he could only get below a 2.2/2.3 range by using drag radials. It doesnt mean enoug to me to get those anyways.

Also, my trap speed is a bit odd. It should have been higher in the 99-100 MPH range I thought. I ran a 14.59@98.15 bone stock way back when. But that night was about 30-40 degrees out with nearly no humidity.

I'm pretty dissappointed that after i/h/e I'm only able to gain 0.2 off of my time. I expected much more from an estimated 30-40 HP.

For the record (to be broken next time out):

60' 2.118
1/8 9.265
1/4 14.379 @ 96.38 mph
(79 degrees)

Pretty much on-par with a lot of first time STi owners (14.2-14.4). From what I understand, the launch is where everyone is making good times--I have seen several 1.6x 60' times with 1.9x pretty common amoung those in the 13's.

Also, I have found a lot of talk about the turbo control being a weak spot for drag racing on the Subby. Apparently, it won't get positive boost until the car is moving--even if you rev/blip before the launch (the highest you can go is 0 atmosphere (no boost, no vacume). A lot of folks are switching the computer/boost controler/wastegate stuff out to make partial to full boost at the line. Of course, this isn't an issue with road racing and it does save wear on everything in the drivetrain...

It's funny, you only learn the questions to ask and the links to search AFTER you go to the track and try it out for the first time.

Makes the learning part of the fun!
