What's the Best Verizon Phone for replacing an iPod?
Time to up the plan once again, and I am looking to place all of my music in to my phone so I can have it all in one convenient place.
So, my question is: what Verizon phone has the best audio quality when used to playback .mp3s and the like?
I have a Droid Eris now (grrrrrrrr) and the playback quality and volume is abyssmal. I refuse to go to the iPhone 4 due to iTunes horrific interface (I listen to a shiiiiiiitload of trance and it ruins my mixes)

If you can wait a few more weeks, the new dual core phones with LTE should be coming out so buying a phone now will kinda make your phone feel out of date. But if you don't care, I think you should narrow it down to the Droid Incredible, Droid X, and Samsung Fascinate.
Droid X: Its a good phone with a big screen (4.3") if you don't plan on running custom ROMS and only care for official firmware updates. It'll probably get Android 2.3 because Motorola has pretty good support for their phones and it is Motorola's current flagship phone.
Samsung Fascinate: Good phone, great screen and its not as big (4") as the Droid X. Its still running Android 2.1 officially and should be getting 2.2 but no announcements have been made as to when. By the looks of it, it probably won't get Android 2.3 officially because Samsung just sucks at support like that. It comes with Bing search and Bing Maps by default although I believe that can be changed.
Droid Incredible: I still think this is one of the greatest phones Verizon has. Its unfortunate HTC doesn't support this phone like their other ones but this is practically the Nexus One on Verizon. It has great custom ROM support from XDA but will probably be unsupported officially by Verizon in the near future. Its currently running Android 2.2 and may get 2.3. If not officially, XDA will make it for sure.
With all of that in mind, all of the phones should be able to play MP3 files very well and if you ever get into the audiophile range with FLACs, they should all be able to play them as well. You may also want to take a look at "Poweramp" from the market:

It has a custom Equalizer which has been getting very great reviews from audiophiles. If I had to choose right now on which phone to get it would go like this:
Droid X > Droid Incredible > Samsung Fascinate

Again, the file management on iTunes looooooves to take my CD mixes and throw them all over the fucking place. I can organize my own music, Mr. Jobs.
i.e. - I will be spending part of the evening taking +100 tracks and putting them back in to their respective original mixes...ALL of which came from different artists

I hate iTunes and I hate being tied down to one computer when I like to share and transfer files as I like.

I use my Blackberry Tour for EVERYTHING. speaker is nice and clear. Its compatible with bluetooth so I use it to play music in my car, in the gym, etc. Doesnt slow the phone down and doesnt drain the battery as much as people think (unless you frequently use the "Loud" feature). I want the Droid X but for now the Tour does every job perfectly. I havent used the CD player in my car in years
